I can not stop sneezing, blowing my nose and coughing and wheezing just from laughing I start having some major coughing fit so annoying. I'm wondering if it's to do with mould in my flat? I've been ill for about 3 weeks now with throat infection and before that I had sinusitis and then before that I had the flu so this is not a good time for me and I think my asthma is getting majorly affected by it all so fed up honestly 😞

Asthma flare up or cold??
Hi Yumz199725
Your problems seem to have a lot of suspects, my asthma (not COPD) at it's worst produced lots of coughing and wheezing.
Not as simple as that, you have mould - But is three weeks exposure enough to cause your symptoms. A throat infection and had sinusitis and flue.
Asthma for coughing maybe - Flue can turn into a none viral chest infection which would benefit from antibiotics - Best this is be seen and get some treatment, sorry can't help more, take care.
Thanks hun x I've had the mould alot longer then 3 weeks it's been couple years so slow exposure to it probably isn't helping, I can't go back to the doctors I've been there soooo many times 😔.
Oh dear. The dreaded mould. Can cause all kind of reactions including as a trigger for asthma. You may have been to your GP many times, I have but reading your post would be a good idea to go one more tim.
Sounds like asthma to me, but I’m not a medic, just going off my own experience- I’ve been sneezing periodically and have a bit of throat clearing which is par for the course for me at this time of year.
As someone with asthma I would consider it a priority to get rid of the mould as quickly as possible as it is a trigger for so many of us.
Yeah it's definitely asthma related and I definitely want this mold gone 💔 the council are sorting it out hopefully x
Please get your doctor to write to the council, your landlord and get onto your MP as rules have changed over mould and damp and they have to fix it asap
The council aren't the most efficient of places are they?
Sounds like a cold following on from sinus prob and flu, triggering asthma. I'd take a vitc & multivitamin supplement to help build immunity back up xx
Thanks hun yeah I have been taking multi vitamins x
I also take hi dose vitamin C and d,especially aft being ill.u must be shattered after all the infections, triggering asthma.if mucous gets too much, look on aluk website and read up on " lung clearance"- they have videos.i use vicks first defence nasal spray & coldzyme if I'm around people - they help neutralise viruses xxx
Sounds like your having a bad time. Things will improve so hang on.Regarding laughing and coughing ..me too! Its uncontrollable and embarrassing sometimes. Not sure how to stop it though guess that comes will our Asthma illness I guess.
Hope you feel better soon.
How much mould do you have in your home? If it's not too much, it can usually be cleaned off with a weak solution of bleach which helps to stop it coming back. Also, you need to ventilate your home regularly ie get the windows open for a while every day to change the air. 10 minutes a day would be enough. I set a timer to remind me to go and close them all! Remember to wipe off any condensation on your windows too.
You've probably been told all this before so ignore me if I'm repeating what you already know. It's just that when I was working full time, I our home would be shut up all day and when we got home, I didn't think about opening windows. We grew mould in cold corners and some parts of the ceilings, particularly the bathroom. I realised that by giving it all a good clean and then ventilating regularly, we got rid of it and it hasn't come back (except some small bits on the bathroom ceiling that still need to be regularly tackled).
Obviously, if you clean it off yourself, it's wise to wear a face mask so you don't breathe in the spores. If you have very large areas of mould, you definitely need to get on to the council to do a thorough cleaning job using the right equipment while you are not in the flat.
Meanwhile, go back to your GP and get them to listen to your chest. Don't be fobbed off with a phone call. Also, if you are able to provide a sputum sample, ask to have it tested and mention the mould issue as I believe they would be able to identify this along with any other infection you might be harbouring.
Living with mould won't help your asthma.
xx Moy
