Asthma??

Hi All

Not sure if this is asthma or not? Coughing, starts as a tickle then I get mucus, sometimes cough up frothy spit I'm coughing that much I'm nearly sick, it gets worse at night, I'm on steroid inhaler twice a day but it doesn't seem to be working as I'm still using the blue one too much, 8 puffs yesterday as well as 4 on steroid one. Any advice would be appreciated, I was in tesco yesterday with covid mask on, I started coughing at checkout this women kept looking at me (they think you have covid if you cough) so I thought to hell with it!! Took my mask off & used my inhaler that stopped her looking, it's embarrassing tho!!

To be fair, most people have no idea about asthma, inhalers or what they're used for or indeed any other lung disease. Personally I don't go through checkouts at the supermarket, I dont want to be that close to people or have anyone else touching my shopping. I always go through self checkouts (& use anti-viral on all my good or leave it in my quarantine corner for a couple of weeks). As we're all patients here we can't diagnose anything, best contact you gp to get the ball rolling.

Many many members with poor lung health also have acid reflux (G.E.R.D) & take antacids to help control it. Your mention of frothy spittle makes me think of this first. There's also something called silent reflux. The airways are very very close to the asophagus (cant spell it😳)

Mucus from lungs goes from white through to pale yellow to green if we have a chest infection or have a lung disease .

GPs won't refer you on first consultation (in uk), they'll always explore the simple 1st &/or use process of elimination in their process hence my suggestion of contacting one asap. P

You maybe right about silent reflux, I've got an hiatus hernia & I do get pains in the middle of my chest with it & heartburn, maybe the tickle I get is acid tickling my throat, going to have a word with GP after Easter, have a nice Easter 🐰😊

Give the steroid puffer time to be effective.it maybe asthma.8 puffs a day isn't major. Use as + when needed

Hi Linda. Its been 8 months. How are you? Did you get diagnosed? It sounds a bit like copd, and thats a disease that justifies not using masks in shops. Just so you know your rights! Please let us know how are you doing x
