Flare up or covid?

I started to feel a little out of sorts last night, sore throat & had a headache, went to bed however during night woke up with a nasty cough & chest sounds wheezy, this morning i have stuffy nose & coughing up mucus. To me these are symptoms of my Bronchiectasis but im a little worried it could be covid as symptoms are very similar. Not sure to request a test or not !!

You know your own condition. If was me I would ring 111 for advice. Basically they told me to start my emergency meds and arrange a Covid test. Which was negative. You can get a home test now so you do not need to leave the house. My wife and daughter had the test at the same time.

Yes agree with badbessie worth a phone call for peace of mind. Daughter had symptoms she rung helpline they suggested test which she did that was a Friday and by Sunday had results so not waiting long. Take care

I agree with Badbessie. The sore throat and stuffy nose alongside the other symptoms sound like something different to a straightforward bronch exacerbation. Especially if the cough is different to your usual one. Do check whether you also have a fever. I agree that it would be wise to cal 111 and get a test.

Just getting over the same ,had a Covid test came back negative.Dr says there’s a lot of it going around at present ,normal seasonal colds and flu but no good for us bronchs .Been on amoxiclav for a week and feeling much better. Take care .

So pleased that your covid test came back negative. As you say, we are hurtling into the season when other people's 'irritating' viruses become a nightmare for us bronchs.

I would request a test to be on the safe side. I have 3 of the covid symptoms all the time ie breathlessness, tiredness, and bad cough. But that's normal for me. I assume covid would make these a lot worse so not worried. However if only one got a lot worse and I lost my sense of smell and appetite with maybe a fever as well that's not normal for me so would get a test.

Fingers crossed it's nothing.

It's not only a loss of sense of smell and taste but change to sense of smell and taste also. Which I'm currently experiencing along with new cough different to my normal usual cough, aching, feel like I'm walking through mud, chest tightness which I don't normally or usually have at all, pain in back ofungs higher up, and today raised temperature but not alarmingly raised, just higher than usual. Was told by Triage early hours Sunday morning to call 119 monday to book covid walk in test not home test kit, had to be walk in as don't drive, 119 told me a load of codswallop and I gave up with them eventually after 3 calls to them and two hours kept waiting in a queue in total to speak to somebody. Finally tested yesterday day 7! Absolutely rediculious and way to late!

Did you manage to book a test? I gave up with 119 and gov website. Went through a army link about how they are doing testing in various places which gave a email address which I almost missed. Emailed that, it was someone at the NHS who then booked my son and I in for testing as walk in yesterday. Day 7 when I especially should have been tested Monday. 119 and government website failing so many people. Hope you did manage eventually. Xx
