Pleural effusion

Hi everyone

Some will remember I’ve recently been in hospital twice with above condition, well I’m back in again , went to see GP and he sent me straight to admissions, horrendous shoulder pain and breathlessness yet again. Respiratory team have already decided to bring forward 3 month CT with contrast to be done now, they want biopsies done too of pleura and lung lining? , as I have thickening and an area upper left lobe which was in question, they are now looking for a mass as heart failure and auto immune causes have been ruled out and no infection. I just want to know what’s going on so I’m no longer in the dark and hopefully get this horrendous pain at bay.

thanks for being here for me

Home again after they successfully managed to get some samples for testing which apparently they didn’t get enough before so now it’s waiting 2 weeks, unfortunately I now have Covid which I obviously got whilst in hospital so it’s keep an eye on oxygen levels and Sputen , hospital if either changes, the joys.

mid nothing shows in samples then it’s theatre to get biopsy’s and try and drain possibly drain peg of some sort.

Wendy xx

Hi Numpty,

The tests and biopsy should give a clearer picture, and enable the team to put specific treatment in place.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

At least things are moving - Hope you get your biopsies tomorrow then they can devise a treatment for you. That's the main this a plan. I have to have 4 biopsies on my bladder in about 2 weeks. I really hope you get your biopsies then you can get treatment and go home. Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks and good luck with yours too, at least on this ward you stay here until they get a diagnosis I’ve been told, as this is where all of the tests get done and MDM are held, it’s nickname by the patients is the cancer ward! The nurses are lovely and I’m here with two lovely ladies, one with a nasty looking foot the other with pneumonia that’s affected her left lung badly. It’s the waiting that’s the worst but it could end up being good news.

Take care
