Lessening effect of Trimbow

Hello to you all, as the headline says I am now starting to find that the effectiveness of Trimbow is depleting, and was searching online for others with the same problem when i came upon this site. Having read what others are saying especially about being told by COPD nurses and gps that they have been told that they are on the most doses permitted, this is exactly where i find myself.

I intend to challenge the maximum 2 puffs twice daily dosage because i feel i definitely need more now in order to function .

thankyou for reading this and i intend to do a follow up once i have spoken to my GP, Kind regards to you all

I have the same thing, they say it lasts twelve hours but i told the nurse that it just doesn't,to which she said nothing.I now take an extra dose early afternoon when the morning ones have worn off which makes all the difference for me...

Interesting.

I took an extra dose of Trimbow in the afternoon, by accident - used it instead of Ventolin - made a huge difference!

However, in response to RalphB, whenever I have questioned either my GP or respiratory nurse, I have been told I'm on the correct medication - they are totally going on the Gold Std., and ignoring the fact, that we are all individuals. I have also questioned them about losing weight and height, since I've been on this medication - apparently impossible - however, these issues all seem to correspond with the medication.

GPs and COPD nurses are limited regarding what they can prescribe - I believe it is only a consultant who can mix and match our inhalers.

Perhaps a different inhaler would suit you better. See if you can speak to a respiratory specialist.

Hi sorry to hear you are not doing well on Trimbow. I have been on Trimbow for a long time now and gradually it became less effective as my COPD got worse. The doctor has changed my inhaler to Trimbow but with twice the amount of steroids in it. Hope you manage to sort things with the doctor.

I found the same and was taking a third dose at night. My GP was (pragmaticaly) OK with this, but my resp nurse not. She prescribed Fostaire, which has the same steroid and LABA element, but not the LAMA. I can take up to 4 puffs a day in between, which really helps....unfortunately the pharmacy has just sent me powder trim bow...can't cope with any of the powder inhalers, so I'm very rattled at the moment and off to see them in a bit.

I'm guessing it was the gp practice who altered your prescription Kismet. It's infuriating. Mine does it too, usually I'll get a text msg "your steroid nasal spray has been taken off repeat prescription, it's now available over the counter at pharmacy " grrr, it's very expensive, I'm on pension credit so its back to excruciating sinus headaches 😫. This month I discovered a medication needing 3 months to wean from is abruptly taken off prescription with no warning.

Same as you Ralph, I've asked several times to be given extra puffs of Trimbow but told I'm on the maximum dose, they just wont listen, it's our bodies & we know we need it. They just read from text books but every one has different needs. I've read that there are 2 different strengths of Trimbow, have you done any research on this, I think I'm only on the basic one.

I was using Trimbow until very recently. I had the same problem that it eventually just didn't seem to help for the full day. My respiratory consultant told me I could take an extra puff midday when needed. This did help for a while. I've now been changed to Trixeo inhaler & carbocisteine which seem to be helping. I have severe emphysema, asthma & chronic bronchitis.
