heatwave

hello from very hot southern Andalucia - forecast 44c here today. Fortunately inland in the hills we have a dryer heat than the coast - the humidity makes breathing much harder.

I wondered how the chap on one of the Greek islands is faring in this heat - can’t recall his name but haven’t seen any posts from him for a while. Has anyone heard from him lately?

Hope everyone in hot areas can keep cool this summer - it’s way too hot for lungies.

Stay safe HelenAlora. I don’t think Dave is on the forum anymore which is a shame. Hope he’s ok. Xxx

in my limited experience of greek islands the temp was always less in islands and they get the winds after midday too . havent b een there for 25 years and things have changed so maybe different now . Some neighbours have just come back from cephalonia about 2 weeks ago and say it was too hot then.

it was davey who was living with stepfather in rhodes, I think. Wonder if he is still there.

mountains are usually better in heat but do take care if it gets more humid.

personally i would like some sun here . it is cold in NW england .-- and wet yet again. rained all day yesterday. Today heavy showers so far with some blue sky and low clouds. So an improvement,

hi yea there is the island effect - I lived in Athens for years and we were always traipsing off to the islands for weekends when work permitted. I think it’s the extra humidity that you get in coastal areas that’s so tough. Hotter but dryer inland here. I remember my first summer in Sounion on the Greek peninsular - so hot and humid and mosquitoes !!!!!! A friend of ours went down to malaga the other day - so humid she couldn’t breathe . Hey hoh it’s wonderful here from October to May. Cant have it all xx

We used to live in Spain, Costa Tropical, and found that it was slightly cooler on the coast. A trip to Granada in August was to be avoided.....the temperature would go up as each kilometre passed!!Are you getting the Sahara wind?

I think we have that joy to come ….. just know it’s belting heat coming up from Africa. How people there survive summer I don’t know.

We are up the coast in the Murcia region. My wife is usually to be found indoors under the air con throughout July and august.

we too adore the aircon! It’s great out in early mornings but by 11 argh . In the old days when we were young I would be bricklaying or rendering till 3 pm

although here in Cyprus we’ve not quite reached that high it’s been about 42/43 inland but here on the coast it’s 36/39. The humidity here is 40% today. I’m either in the house with aircon on or sitting in the pool under umbrella. It’s certainly getting worse than it was when I first moved out here 15 years ago.

Hi HelenAlora from miserable rainy Manchester at 19 degrees. I moan about our weather but dont know how you cope with that heat, it would wipe me out. It was Dave on the greek island but he left some time ago, I would imagine it is very hot there at the moment x

Yes it’s bit cool in Sutton Coldfield, we’re bit high up so presumably get more breeze. sun would be welcome today, at least it’s dry, not very warm. Best wishes. Jean x

Its actually been a really nice day today and has been warm in the sunshine and the little breeze we had has dried my sheets , so not complaining x
