Hot weather breathing problems

Hi Everyone,

I've been lucky enough to not be suffering for a while, but this hot weather has made me breathless, and I've had to start using my inhaler again, is there anyone out there who is being affected as I am in the heat.

The weather has me more breathless than usual which means that i feel as though I have climbed very high mountain by the end of the day and therefore am knackered by 8pm!

Hi,

I live in the Southwest U.S. where we have had temperatures over 40C for many days. I’ve had breathing trouble at night, had to increase inhaler dosage, which makes me sleepless. Eucalyptus oil on a cotton ball in my pillow case has seemed to help a bit, without the sleepless side effect.

I'll try Eucalyptus thanks.

I don't know if it is the same where you are, but I find that my bad days coincide with raised pollution levels.

Maybe it does then.

You are not alone, I am so glad it has cooled down and rained as my breathing is much better, on the other hand they are forecasting a return to heat again so hope you have plenty of inhalers at the ready. Stay indooras much as you can if it is really hot, especially midday time. Best Wishes

Some hot days recently the air has felt as thick as soup to breathe. These cooler days are better, except for the higher humidity when it rains. You can't win!

I am in Australia and I have seen on the news the extremely hot summer you have been having in the UK. I feel for you. I find with our summers here it is really difficult breathing wise. It is the humidity that gets me. Drink lots of water and do whatever you can to keep cool. Best wishes to you all from Oz.

It’s the humidity that really affects me. Coped fairly well until about 10 days ago. I’ve had a course of steroids which has calmed it all down. Love the hot weather but we in London are having a cool rainy period, much needed, but hope the hot Esther comes back but without the high humidity.

Hi, everyone I should think, we all have a problem with heat and cold you are not on your own. For the heat you could try a portable air conditioning unit or (and cheaper) an air cooler. You could also try a hand held fan (available from Amazon around £7) to help keep your face cool & helps with the breathing.

I just got one of the USB hand held fans with a water mister attached. I works well to cool my face and top of head. For some reason that is where I get the hottest.

I'll look for a hand fan, thanks

Yesterday was close to 37C here in Calgary, AB but it's the smoke from the many forest fires burning that has affected many people. The air quality index is extremely high making it almost impossible to go outside. The weather is shifting so hoping the smoke dissipates and a cool front is rolling in. 😁
