Happy Monday 😊

Good morning all, well after finally getting an appointment with the Chest clinic at the hospital, after my phoned appointment was cancelled four times. I got to see a specialist. I have had COPD for years now, taken lots of different inhalers. The specialist told me I have severe COPD, and told Trimbow is the best Inhaler for me, even though it only gives me short relief together with Salamol. He told me he was referring me for oxygen at home, and need CT and ultra sound on my lungs and heart. I will also be assessed for a lung operation, scary. Has anyone had this new keyhole lung operation, I have read up on it from Royal Brompton hospital London. But would appreciate more personal feedback. Have a great day

Sorry I can't help you with about the keyhole lung operation. Have you tried using the search box at the top to find other posts about it?

Thank you, yes I have researched it, first one done at Royal Brompton hospital London, seems very successful, but I will wait to see my test results to see if I can have the procedure. Also waiting to see the oxygen nurses, as they want me on that too.

You may have had to wait for this appointment but it seems the specialist is doing a thorough job. I haven't heard of this keyhole lung op so can't comment but wish you well and hope things get better for you x

Thank you, it is a breakthrough procedure, but have to wait and see the test results, to see if I can have it or not.

Thank you, on the positive side I feel good in myself, but after seeing my father and two of my brothers with Emphysema I know what to expect, at least things are improving with brake through treatments we all have more chance of help. Take care

I have heard of it but don’t know anything about it. It seems at least one person here has had it but don’t recall who. Hopefully they will see your post and respond.

Thank you, will keep a look out. I did read someone my age 72 had this done, they cut away the bad bits and leave the good bits, only if it's the bottom part of the lung. But she said she feels great and can get about so much better. So fingers crossed. Take care

if you read this post coughee posted he had had the surgery and invites anyone to contact her if you have any questions, She doesn’t specifically mention keyhole surgery but rather robotic but it could very well be the same.

I can't offer any advice sorry but I'm very interested in hearing more about this procedure. I was supposed to have lung reduction surgery but unfortunately I was turned down as I have a high risk of perioperative mortality. I was assessed for zephyr valves but because I have chronic bronchitis I was turned down for that too. My next appointment at the Brompton is to assess me for cryotherapy to help with the bronchitis.

Thank you for your reply, this proceeder was preformed at the Royal Brompton, so perhaps you could speak to them about it. Terrible shame you have been turned down for the other treatments, I feel for you. Take care, and I wish you well ,
