Spoke to my GP this morning about my ongoing chest infection, told her that although I seem to have stopped coughing up the horrible gunk I am still coughing and am feeling very weak, lethargic and short of breath, she said she wanted to see me at the surgery, only problem was that it was about 8.45am when I was talking to her and she wanted to see me at 9.15am, i said that I get out of breath just moving from room to room let alone attempting to get washed and dressed and getting to the surgery in under half an hour,
She got a little testy at that and said what do you want me to do then, I suggested that I have another course of antibiotics which she reluctently agreed to, If my conditions do not improve then I will have to see her at the surgery.
Lets just see what happens over the next week

Hi Doggie, It seems most doctors are like that. Yesterday I had a telephone appointment about exactly what you have just described. She asked me to go to the surgery so she could check me out. I said I would find it hard to get their but I gave in and said I would get a taxi.
But couldn`t guarantee how long it would take me. She agreed for me to go as soon as I could. On seeing her she checked everything and then said what did I want her to do about it. I nearly said who is the doctor here ?
I actually came away with steroids and a blood test booked for next week.
What is the world coming to?
Btw. good to hear from you as its usually the QS forum. 😊
I've been lucky in the two times I have actually seen a doctor in the past four years, in that they have given me about four hours to get there. It still means finding someone to take me though, or booking a taxi.
Hi Doggie, Sorry you are feeling so bad. I have had this experience with my GP and I always say Please can I have a later appointment as my breathing is preventing me from hurrying. One time when I did not ask and I hurried to the surgery I collapsed and ended in hospital. I think doctors need to be told the truth and I am sure you will find they will be more understanding. Hope you get well soon. Take care, Maximonkey
I had the same problem on Tuesday. I spoke to the surgery at about 10am, got an emergency appt for 10.40. I sounded like Darth Vader after running a marathon by the time I got there. 😕
I went to my surgery having secured an appointment because I started getting pains in my chest going right up to my shoulder... she listened to my chest and found no crackling so puzzled, she put me on a course of Amoxycillin and I had to do a sputum test... Results came through to the GP that I had a nasty case of Pseudomonas..
So they can't always tell from listening to your chest..
