air flow heating

it’s winter Walker again , I spoke to the lung and asthma help line and found out I had not been taking my trimbo correctly so I’m hoping the walking is going to improve. I live in a private rented flat which for heating has an air flow system. Once I heard that it’s bad for lungs, I have been using hydrogen heaters but now know that they are not that cheep to run , however I was using 3.

I just wanted to know anyone who knows about airflow heating and if it’s safe? I spent all afternoon going from one service to the other on the phone but no one seems to know? So I thought I would ask on here as my walking question was sorted quickly! Which I’m so grateful for, many thanks in advance :)

HI, Winterwalker. Using the Trimbo correctly will make such a difference.

I did a quick search online and nothing came up against air flow heating for people with lung conditions. It can be drying, and it may move dust and smells around - it depends where the air is coming from that is heated.

My church uses heated air pumped through ducts to flow down from the ceiling. The only problem I have had is when someone with strong perfume stands beneath the air inlet and it comes out on the other side of the church where I am playing the organ. Perfume can be a trigger for me, and I have to take Ventolin to cope.

Hope this helps.

yes nothing in line!sorry to hear about your perfume problem, lucky enough I’m ok with perfume, I have no idea where the air comes from, I’m having it on for 24 hours to see how I am and also how much units it uses, I sleek with a capas machine so I get clean air when I sleep, wishing you a very happy Christmas which I can imagine will be a busy organ period playing for you😊

Thank you, winterwarlker01. Yes, it's a delight when I get to Boxing Day. Feet up, going no-where, big box of chocolates.

I wonder if you can install filters for the vents ?? You could ask your landlord and see what he thinks, perhaps worth a try. I am sure places like Amazon would sell these. If not you could use hallogen heaters which are quite cheap to run. Have a Happy Christmas and whatever you do keep warm x

thank you my landlord would never do anything, he knows I love living hear and turned really nasty so if I ask or complain, he would kick me out. I have been here 10 years and very happy. Yes I have those heaters , so after my 24hr heat experiment I will see what is the cheapest but the air flow gets all round the flat despite only having 3 vents, I will look on Amazon about filters never thought of that! Thank you and happy Christmas to you to!

How awful to be controlled by such a nasty person but glad you love living where you are and olease do check out the filters, I cant see them being difficult to fit, they may just need a little wooden bracket. Good luck x
