Hi All

Many thanks to everyone who replied to my post regarding going to Tenerife with COPD.

My next question is Travelling with COPD/Bronchiectasis I am going to need insurance but does anyone have any idea how much it will cost.

There is no point me booking a holiday and the insurance saying it will cost say £500 to insure me.

So any comments and prices you have been quoted please let me know.

Many thanks

Hi Giutarman. The best thing to do is to ring around for a quote before you book. If you give dates of when you are hoping to travel they will quote for you.I used to get mine through Saga, which is the company that gave us the best quote after my husband had his stroke.

The last holiday we had, I changed to esure, because the saga quote was way too high after I got my diagnosis.

I once read that Fish insurance is in partnership with the BLF. They specialise in insurance for people with pre existing medical conditions and disabilities but I haven't used them so am unable to give any personal experience.

As said by Troilus you are going to need to ring round for quotes. I have used Esure and at that time found them reasonable. I spoke to them rather than do online because I have a very complicated medical situation so wanted everything noted so IF I had needed to use insurance they wouldn’t try to get out of it!It wouldn’t surprise me if holiday insurance hadn’t got quite expensive due to Covid and similarly companies may well have changed policies since we used them. Again am afraid that you will need to do trawl round to get quotes.

Hi Guitarman - I have always used Staysure, as they specialise in providing cover for health conditions. None of them are what you call cheap...it also depends very much on age too. However, I have always found this company competative in price and very helpful.

Good morning, we always use Staysure, always have a great service from them, I did find that instead of putting COPD, I always put Emphysema which I have, don't know why but insurance is cheaper. Good luck and have a wonderful holiday.

Hello, my wife and have several medical conditions between us and , prior to covid we went to Tenerife every year. I found that Insurewith were relatively reasonably priced and rather than charging an exorbitant premium they increase the excess for existing conditions.
