My last CT scan showed according to my respiratory specialist that I have small airway disease ,,,, I’ve known since I was a kid asthma has always bothered me , but came back with a vengeance in last 3 years after being very ill for 6 months with infections etc ,,,, I’m on fostair and salbutamol, along with carbocistene tablets to help mucus clear ,,,, I’ve just been put on inhaler called Trimbow ,,,,can I ask if this has helped anyone similar as it’s just been released for asthma as it’s a copd, drug ,,,,thanks

Hi, I think your experience is fairly regular with asthma as we progress in age. Similar to my experience, I was quite ill for over 3 years before anyone thought of uncontrolled asthma which had hardly raised its ugly head my whole life & I was extremely fit apart from hill climbing and extreme exertion. I went to the extreme of moving out of London for clever air after diagnosis of small airways disease &/or bronchiectasis. Sorry, I know nothing about trimbow. Mine's Fostair. I may be wrong but I think folks with copd also use it to keep inflammation down and airways open.

Take care of yourself now, healthy diet, healthy weight, build up exercise, practice good hand hygiene avoid bugs (the slightest viral sniffle would end up as chronic chest infection for me) and take your medication regularly.

Personally I took to the supplements route to rebuild my broken immune system. P

Hi I changed from Fostair to Trimbow 2 years ago. I have been fine and it means I don't need Spiriva for clearing mucus. I have asthma and COPD.

Glad it’s working for you ,I’m hoping to get that result too , the carbocistene helps break my mucus up ,easier to cough up then ,

I’ve recently changed from Fostair to Trimbow. I was apprehensive when it was suggested as I was reasonably happy on Fostair. From my understanding it has the same two ingredients as Fostair plus another. Anyway for me it was a good move, I Have improved on it. Good luck, if it doesn’t suit you can always go back to Fostair

Hi I have been on Fostair for years. Get on with it great. But tried me on it. Didn't like it. Give it a go. To see if it suits you.

Hi

I was on Spiriva and Bricanyl up to 8 months ago at which time the respiratory team changed the medication to Trimbow, Salbutamol and Carbocisteine. I have certainly noticed a big improvement. I also now use a spacer which helps to get the medicine in (I hadn't used one before).

Remember to take the Salbutamol before the Trimbow as it clears the airways thus allowing the Trimbow easier access to the lungs.

Try and persevere with the new medication and, if you find it doesn't help, go back to your GP.

Good luck
