I have a flutter, I got it on prescription from my GP. They cost (well did last time I looked) just under 40

The flutter does help me. You should check with your medical team first to make sure it's suitable for you.

Thanks for that ditto to you and Bernadette

I've got a flutter and an Aerobika. I prefer the Aerobika as you can use it lying down and the resistance is adjustable.

Hi, I have had a few different ones over the past few years. At my last meeting with my consultant (last year), my acapella was changed and I was given the newer Aerobika. Apparently this one is regarded as the latest version of these little hand held gadgets. I find it excellent and it can be used when lying down to clear your chest. I believe its expensive to buy but I was given one by my consultant at the hospital.

Hi Tunbury, yes the flutter device is expensive (from where I sit being on a pension!) but definitely I find worth every cent. You can get the same affect from using the bottle pep (blowing through a tube and making bubbles into a glass of water) but the flutterer you can take anywhere with you so its super convenient. And I use it often. I have copd and often find crap stuck somewhere in/on the lung/s, and once I have used it, not immediately (sometimes it is) but a wee while after I am able to cough it up. And sometimes I don't get to cough it up, but just using the device can shift the crap, so I am not struggling as much. Good luck. But yes talk to your respiratory personage or gp, to be sure to be sure!

I have got a flutter and an AerobiKA, Respiratory gave me mine on one of my appointments, along with a nebulizer. I find the AerobiKA works better than the flutter.

Hi I have a flutter and an acapella both from doctor or respiratory department, I have asthma, bronchiectasis and copd and find using a device essential every day. But during a flare up really important to get the mucus out.

I have asthma but in the middle of a chest infection nurse said it would probably help to move mucus thanks for replying

Only use my aerosure when I have mucus problems, which is on the rare occasion I get a cold or chest infection.

Hi which flutter device do you have please

Hello Tunbury. I was loaned a flutter, but couldn't get on with it, probably because no-one taught me to use it properly. Then I was prescribed an AerobiKa when I was quite ill and the result was magical. There is a good video on line explaining how it works. Talk to your GP or nurse and see if they will prescribe a suitable device for you.

I use a flutter and also the pari pep s attachment for my nebuliser. 3 of my nebs (salbutamol, ipratropium, 6% hypertonic saline) I do with the pari LC Sprint neb before the flutter, and then afterwards the steroid with the LC Sprint Star which creates a finer mist to penetrate deeper into smaller airways. This regime (and mepolizumab) is working well for me.
