Flutter Devices
I have a flutter, I got it on prescription from my GP. They cost (well did last time I looked) just under 40
The flutter does help me. You should check with your medical team first to make sure it's suitable for you.
I got my flutter device off the GP. Have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
I've got a flutter and an Aerobika. I prefer the Aerobika as you can use it lying down and the resistance is adjustable.
that is interesting...I haven't heard of this one. I will check it out. many thanks
Hi, I have had a few different ones over the past few years. At my last meeting with my consultant (last year), my acapella was changed and I was given the newer Aerobika. Apparently this one is regarded as the latest version of these little hand held gadgets. I find it excellent and it can be used when lying down to clear your chest. I believe its expensive to buy but I was given one by my consultant at the hospital.
Hi Tunbury, yes the flutter device is expensive (from where I sit being on a pension!) but definitely I find worth every cent. You can get the same affect from using the bottle pep (blowing through a tube and making bubbles into a glass of water) but the flutterer you can take anywhere with you so its super convenient. And I use it often. I have copd and often find crap stuck somewhere in/on the lung/s, and once I have used it, not immediately (sometimes it is) but a wee while after I am able to cough it up. And sometimes I don't get to cough it up, but just using the device can shift the crap, so I am not struggling as much. Good luck. But yes talk to your respiratory personage or gp, to be sure to be sure!

I have got a flutter and an AerobiKA, Respiratory gave me mine on one of my appointments, along with a nebulizer. I find the AerobiKA works better than the flutter.
I bought the aerosure and it seems to help
Hi I have a flutter and an acapella both from doctor or respiratory department, I have asthma, bronchiectasis and copd and find using a device essential every day. But during a flare up really important to get the mucus out.
Only use my aerosure when I have mucus problems, which is on the rare occasion I get a cold or chest infection.
Hi which flutter device do you have please
Hello Tunbury. I was loaned a flutter, but couldn't get on with it, probably because no-one taught me to use it properly. Then I was prescribed an AerobiKa when I was quite ill and the result was magical. There is a good video on line explaining how it works. Talk to your GP or nurse and see if they will prescribe a suitable device for you.
I bought a little device called an Air Physio.. I'm happy with it..
I purchased the Air Physio & it works really well for me. You can see demonstrations on Youtube.
Thinking will probably take a chance to anything for a bit of relief
Hi Tunbury. Let us know how you go on.
Hi I used it for the first time this morning and IT WORKED yay it has made me feel so much better already I’m in the middle of a chest infection so to be able to clear the gunk has been so beneficial thanks again x

I use a flutter and also the pari pep s attachment for my nebuliser. 3 of my nebs (salbutamol, ipratropium, 6% hypertonic saline) I do with the pari LC Sprint neb before the flutter, and then afterwards the steroid with the LC Sprint Star which creates a finer mist to penetrate deeper into smaller airways. This regime (and mepolizumab) is working well for me.
