I am really interested too know if anyone has managed too get a flutter on prescription , my physio suggested it would help so i will ask my doctor when i go on friday

I never heard of it till a couple of days ago on this group...I will try and find out about it at the surgery next time I go.
Hi newlands, my Physio recommended a flutter to me and when I asked my doctor for one she told me she had no idea what it was but to get my Physio to put it in writing which she did. I now have it and have been using it for some time. It makes bringing up the gunk so much easier. Good luck. Regards Kissi

newlands, insist to your doctor that you really need this and it should do you a world of good.

You can ask your doctor a referral to your physio so he explains in details what to do, as this is really good to bring the mucus up and out (before sleep and in the morning; that should free you very soon)
I read about it on this website and asked my GP to prescribe it. She hadn't heard of it, but looked it up on-line and gave me a prescription immediately. Good luck - seems all GPs different.
I mentioned it to the physio taking my PR course, and she gave me one at the next session. If you think it may help, please ask your GP, resp nurse or even your consultant at the hospital. Good luck.

Huffnpuff, quite right. The consultant has access to the physiotherapist perhaps in a way that all this has the back up of the hospital. I've noticed that GP's are reluctant to spend money from their surgery, as it looks bad. But the hospital provides what consultant ask for more readily.
Hello Newlands,If a flutter is what I think it is the last time I was in hospital the physio told me how to make my own although she did give me a piece of tubing.Get an old used plastic milk bottle fill with about 2/3inches of water put tubing into it and blow.Apparentely the vibrations loosen the mucus.I thought it was ingenious.I don,t have a problem with mucus so don,t use it .Hope that,s of some help.D.

Yes nebuliser tubing should do fine put it about half way into the water and off you go.Good luck,hope it helps.D.

I got one from my Dr with no trouble at all. Just explain how much trouble you have shifting mucus. I'm sure you would find it very helpful, I wouldn't want to be without mine
Hi newlands I think that the "flutter" device is available on prescription in the UK but the "acapella choice" is not. I purchsed the "acapella choice" because it can be used in almost any position whereas the "flutter" is crucial to angle for operation.

Just to let you know that I asked GP yesterday about a Flutter. The reply was "that's a good idea. Give it a try and see how you get on." A prescription was provided. The village Co op Pharmacy had one in stock.
