I spent most of yesterday feeling torpid and went into a deep, deep sleep in the evening, during which my arm began to ache like mad. Too tired to get up to bed till midnight, then had to sleep in a very odd position to avoid hurting the arm. Woke up, arm still hurting, decided to award myself a very lazy day, but the pain has started receding as I've got active- curses, curses. No excuse for a lazy day. Brian has only had a relatively small ache, but he did dose himself with pain killers as soon as it started.
I hope the powers that be will take on board that there are a fair number of people who could not stand outside in the cold for so long. Any ideas who to contact?
I just hope the wait has not given the haemophilus bug a chance to wake up. Getting a chest infection while waiting for the covid jab would be ironic .
One other thing: the room where they did the vaccinations and got people to sit afterwards was pretty crowded with staff, support workers and pensioners. I don't think social distancing was possible for quite a lot of the time. Not ideal.
Take care everyone. Hope you all get offered the jab soon, in slightly more civilised conditions. xxx

Hoping you stay well Alberta and your arm improves. I’m happy for Pete on Friday but dreading it too as he usually has a reaction to jabs. I’ll be there with him though. He can go on his scooter as the community centre isn’t far from us. I’ll trot along beside him.
Matt Hancock boasted about every body will be within TEN MILES of a vaccination centre. Just how are the Critically Extremely Vulnerable supposed to get there if they don't drive? Catch a mobile germ factory, known as a bus?
volunteers i have been told . equally was told dr would organise that ! havent put either to test yet ! what you are told is not necessarily so i had an invite to local surgery and said no way to get there but and told i wasnt down as housebound but as my flu jab had been done at home she would try to get that .Dont believe that will happen. On waiting list for hip and walking is worse but havent put it to test since last march
It makes me angry to read about the way that people like us are are treated so unfeelingly. I'm lucky that I still drive, but I would not like to drive 10 miles to the main Mid-Essex hospital, especially if there was a chance I would have a bad reaction.
As I am sure you are aware [unlike Mr Hancock] the shielding letter we received clearly states that we must not use public transport [bus train or taxi ]or get in a vehicle with anyone not of our household....hmm .....conundrum.... virtual jabs? driverless cars ?
Nice to meet another "Colonised with Haemophilis" member its a little bleeder hiding deep down in the depths ready to spring into action. I'm on Clarithromycin at the moment after a really good infection free year Hey Ho
I have a similar reaction today after my Pfizer jab yesterday; bit drowsy and sore arm, but not significant (yet!). Had to stand in the rain and wind yesterday, and the waiting room was pretty full after the jab (they kept people for 15 minutes afterwards). But the turnover was good, so people were largely able to socially distance, everyone wore masks, seats were wiped after each use, and the doors were open, so ventilation was good. A lot of people commented very positively about the experience on local social media - I just had too much clothing on, which was a bit of an embarrassment as one of the assistants had to hold it all whilst I had the jab. If you're up to it, wear a tee-shirt under your coat, and there were some brave souls doing that yesterday, but it was too wet and windy for my delicate constitution!
