Has anyone else having moved into tier 4 had a text about shielding? I had planned to return to work next week but looks like I’ll have to continue working from home☹️

Yes, received a text after also receiving an email from the government. Although I am retired I felt it was helpful information for those still working.

Hi yes had email and letter to say work from home. If not possible to do that. Then don't go to work. Stay at home. Mine says till 18th January. Hope this helps.

I had exactly the same, text, email and letter! To shield til 18th Jan even if my area goes down in tier in the meantime.

My wife and I have had nothing yet from either NHS or government but as text and letters always arrive late for us no surprise. We had already decided to shield anyway.

The government departments aren't the most efficient of places are they?

Yes I had text and email when we went into tier 4. I have been shielding since the beginning (apart from 3 weeks back at work), and have been signed off with stress as work was so clearly unsafe for me. At least with the govt. telling me to shield, I get paid a little more than SSP by Tesco! It is still only guidance, but I cannot imagine anyone vulnerable wanting to go anywhere with this virus about!! xx Happy New Year!! xx

Leo60 I really feel for anyone in your position. I work in a school and my employer has been really understanding. Even when the last round ended because my GP wasn’t happy with me she suggested that I continue to shield. Stay safe and take care of yourself x

Thank you! So many people just don’t understand that many vulnerable people do actually work!! While Tesco have been very understanding and paid me in full for my contracted hours (still an income cut) during the first round of shielding, they have since only paid me sick pay and I have gone through company sick pay right down to SSP! So being asked to shield again is a real benefit to me! They have been very understanding about me not being there, just wish they didn’t have a “no furlough” policy! When I did go back briefly after the first wave, there were people there working full time who were on furlough ! So earning 180% wages which I find hard to swallow 🤔 Sorry for rant! Hopefully all will be resolved soon and I won’t have to live off my savings! 2021🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Xxx

Yes both - they said "stay at home as much as possible but....encouraged to go outside for exercise and to attend health appointments. You are strongly advised to work from home if you can."It was dated 20.12 but arrived yesterday 30th so perhaps your letter is late due to post/Xmas etc

I am not on the list for shielding as I am classified as mild, but have been shielding on and off since this began. I live alone and cant get a supermarket slot so have to go out. I think its a case of being careful and stay as safe as you can x

Yes, text and email from GOV and then an email from East Sussex CC telling me about registering with the govt site if I need help etc - same as before. xx Moy

Yes I got the email not long after the announcement we had gone into tier 4. It said that I should shield but this is not a law only a guideline. It also said it served as proof that you couldn’t go into work. It is valid until the 1st February 2021.

I was advised to shield during the first lockdown and did so. I went back to work in September and was advised by my employer that I should shield again having been classed as CEV previously. Had nothing for three weeks from Gov.uk and was initially told by my practice manager that I was no longer on the CEV list. My asthma nurse and GP disagreed and as a result I have been shielding since nov. I really was hoping to return next week but won’t do so now. Like many others I am extremely cautious of leaving the house. Truthfully I think they should have issued a full lockdown, it’s only a matter of time before those in tier three join us.

Yes received the email and text and unfortunately I cannot stick to the guidance. I manage a small artisan bakery and need to be at work.

in reply toDeanSamson

Thats it shielding is just guidance it's not law.

Hopefully as you manage it you are able to ensure your workplace is as COVID safe as possible. Are you able to carry out any of your role remotely or when there aren’t staff onsite? Good luck and stay safe. Hopefully this will soon be over. X
