Spoke to Doc Friday who suspects very strongly that the vulnerable will be shielded again for 3 months starting October.

Oh no! Its such a sad state of affairs.

I wish some people would just follow the guidelines. Its going to be a long, miserable Winter by the sound of it. When the pandemic really started last Spring we were so lucky with the weather and long sunny days and evenings. Its going to be quite a depressing time.

Good morning,

As hard as this was for me, it kept me and my family safe which is my priority. The only issue for me is I have young children that have also been at home with me for six months and have only just returned to school last week!

I think for me at least I know what is involved with shielding /staying home, I will be prepared and can make plans accordingly.

I appreciate this is will be very hard particularly for those that live alone and hope that this forum has brought them some comfort and joy, my lung buddies have been tremendous with keeping me same and laughing!

Have good weekend😊

On balance I think this would be a good thing. It will be very difficult for those living alone, but maybe they will allow some kind of bubble.

My advice to all is buy toilet rolls!

Don't start that off again!!! ;) xx

I'd already anticipated that this virus would cost me a year of what's left of my life and filed it under 'shit happens'. 🙄

🤣 Too true.

I have been expecting this all along and quite frankly there is no point in those of us in our position moaning and renting our clothes.

We are in the middle of a global pandemic and it has to be handled in whichever way will benefit the largest proportion of the population and help to save the economy in the best way.

Everybody has their own view on how to do this.

I believe that if I shelter it protects me whilst allowing children to go to school, businesses to open and young people to socialise. Allbeit with sensible precautions.

We have tecnology and services available today to help us cope which those in the time of the Black Death, three hundred years of repeated plague outbreaks and the 1918 flu did not.

I have only been with my four Grandchilren who live in Southampton once since February and who knows how long it will be now.

Believe me, compared to being locked in my house under curfew for a year, followed by an escape through gunfire in a tank, due to the Lebanese civil war, This is a party.

I started life under World War 2 and it looks as though I might finish it under COVID-19 part2. Whatever, the years in between have been mostly pretty good. 😉😘

Well said LP. I am already in Self Shielding. Haven't seen my G Children or GG's since last Year, They have to Travel from Spain, but we all keep close with Wassap as Do my G. children in UK. Just had Long conversations with the Elder Girls. Little Baby Ebony has shown me her Cute Red Toe Nails which she painted herself along with her Toes,( I live in a Phone you Know). Made me Giggle, Very Happy to see. Stay Safe . Lots of Love. C. XXX

I, selfishly maybe, welcome this. I will at least have some form of income whilst being safe at home. Don't forget "shielding" is guidance only, if you find it too hard, it is up to you as to how you want to balance risks against your mental wellbeing.

I hope it is the case, others can get on with their lives as Littlepom said. xx

Well said

That's it shielding is guidance its not law!

My OH is in the vulnerable group, and we haven’t led a wild life whilst it has been paused! I feel a bit piggy in the middle, as I’m still working 3 days a week, and we also help out with childcare a couple of hours a week. I wonder how others who live with shielders manage, in a practical way?

In reality this comes as no surprise. Both my wife and I have kept to a very small bubble I watch the situation both nationally and internationally every day. Personally I think October may be optimistic after viewing the news this morning in certain areas I think shielding will be brought in earlier than that. The R number is 1.1 to 1.2 nationally however in some areas it must be far higher. From my own reading I believe that it will soon be out of control. There are a growing number of reports that indicate that there is a growing number of older people now becoming infected. Personally I am going to shield from this point as much as possible.

We have been in a sort of semi shielding mode since advice was to relax on shielding. I fully expect to be formally back shielding soon

Keep safe

I expect it will be so. I am fully resigned to it, I haven't had close contact with any of my children or grandchildren for months and months.

I've gone through several stages of reaction to all this: an initial phase of energy to battle with all the complications of being locked down and shielding, a longer phase of grief about not seeing family except virtually, and now resignation that this is what life is like for the foreseeable future. Somewhat depressing to have reached the resignation phase.

No surprise that we will be shielding again A week ago I got in touch with B.L.F. about starting up my Breatheasy group again and was told that it would be March 2021 the same for Sing for your Lungs groups I have not as yet come out of lockdown since the last week in Feb and the year before was pretty much like a lockdown situation as I had a hip replacement in March of last year which I took a few months t ok recover from then on August I fractured my spine recovered from that and then after a couple of months went into lockdown it's so hard to keep a positive spin on things but what choice do we have sorry it's such a long list

You’ve definitely been through the wars, bless you!

My daughter makes me laugh..

Was doing exercises in garden and later overheard her telling a friend “Dad’s doing his Bums, Tums and Lungs aerobics”.

😅😅
