Hi, has anybody got contact burning back pain ( mainly when leaning back on a chair or lying on the back) from steroid inhaler. I am not sure if flixotide caused it, but I read about possible skin thinning from inhalers and wonder if this is the case

Burning back pain from steroid inhaler
Probably not. You realy need to talk to your gp to find out what is going on maybe an infection but i doubt very much it is your inhalers or thinning skin😷
Hi Polzovatel, I don't think this is at all common with inhaler meds.
Can someone check your back - I am actually thinking shingles*, if there is a shingles rash there you need to speak with your GP asap to get the meds for that.
Do chat with you GP anyway as suggested and let us know how you are doing.
Take good care.
*I'm not a medical professional but just going on what people I've known have experienced
Thanks for your reply. I haven't got any rash. I've had this for 2 years, went to my GP and a neurologist a few times, they have no idea. I have been on max dosage of steroid inhalers and short bursts of prednisone for my asthma for years, had a few side effects, so was wondering if this is also a side effect.
You can check your information leaflet the comes with any meds you take. You've had it for 2 years !! constant? or intermittent. I would have thought the doc or neurologist could have indicated something for you by now.
The only other thing in my own experience is osteoarthrities, that gives a burning pain on contact and brushing against anything when it is flaring. Have you had the area scanned / xrayed? If not perhaps request that, and if its beginning to get worse request an additional scan/xray if its been a while since your last one. But perhaps you have been checked for that already?
I'm sure if your doctor and neurologist doesn't know we won't know either.
oral steroids can cause osteoporosis, a Dexa scan can determine that but you would need to request one on your back if that is where you are getting the problem, although there isn't usually pain with osteoporosis unless the bone thinning is causing other problems. Osteoarthritis is the one that gives symptoms like you describe.
I have a burning sensation area on my arm and elbow , sometimes my thigh that comes on now and again and last for a week or so . Nothing visible and never an explanation. I also have wondered if it was a meds reaction.
the burning and sharp pain on contact is what I experienced before the actual osteoarthritis stiffness and joint pain manifested
I get bad pain in back/ back of shoulder when have extra fluid in lungs with lung infection
Interesting - I have had a pain under my left shoulder since March, it's always there but can start really hurting like being stabbed, I thought it must be something to do with when they cut the muscle/nerve when you have an operation, as I had a wedge 3 years ago on the left lung. Some days I can live with it, but others it really gets me & can wake me up, in bed feels like something is digging into your back, even when you are laying on your side. GP said it's old age!
I have similar pain and little help for it,
Saying’ old age’ is as good as ‘wear and tear’ and about as much use for you.
Hoe it will improve, sopsx
Yes when i lie on my mattress, also have rib side pain if i turn over

Are you taking large dose of steroid inhaler?
Not now, i was taking them for asthma but now take azithromycin, anwd rescue pack drugs prendosline, and various antibiotics for flares. I take naproxen and omniprozole for arthritis.i had brown, and purple inhalers but my repspiratory consultant is concentrating on bronchiectasis as worsening so have blue salbutamol only as an opener.
Currently have really nasty back, sternum and rib pain on left side.
Have to say feeling a bit low and worried about life in general.
