Change of meds

Hi anyone had there meds Azithtomycin (one 3.times a week) changed to Doxycylin 6weeks on /6weeks off? The Azithtomycin has stopped working for me still having chest infections.

Just wondering if anyone found it better thanks for reading x

Hi Willanna, Pete sometimes alternates between azithromycin and Doxy. He takes azith and if he gets a chest infection he then takes Doxy for a while. It works well for him.

I've been taking the Azithtomycin then taking Doxycylin as well when I've had chest infection, consultant now taking me off Azithtomycin & just on Doxycylin just hoping it helps with infections🤞

My hospital consultant took me off azithromycin as it had contributed to making me deaf. Up till then I hadn’t had a chest infection for about 4 years. There doesn’t seem to be an alternative for this prophylactic drug. Shame really, I have had an exacerbation since I stopped using it in January, which I probably wouldn’t have had with the azith.
