Hi guys, just a warning, I had an Anti shingles vaccine about 4 years ago so I assumed total protection WRONG, shooting head pains and my right eye affected I needed hospital treatment and a 6 week course of meds . At first I dismissed Shingles thinking nah, had the vaccine ain’t I ! Wish I’d gone to the doc earlier
So I can hardly see out of one eye and suffering stabbing end of nerve pain with a blistered face. Oh well, all part of being a fossil, I suppose

Ha Ha! I had to smile when you said you look like something out of a horror movie. I feel the same when I look in the mirror first thing in the morning.
Oh how painful that would be terrible having your eye impacted. And having the sores on your face. I am told acupuncture can help with shingles. Maybe worth considering. I hope you feel better soon. x
Be very careful with your eyes. My Mother was taken in hospital because of her eyes when she had shingles. If you have any worries go back straight away. Sorry if I sound like an alarmist but shingles near the eye is serious.
Years ago I dragged my Dad to the ER when he developed a sore and a fever over his eye. He hated it later when our dermatologist claimed I saved his eye. After my mom and sis both had it (and a lot of pain) I made sure I had the first vaccine and then when they said that really wasn't effective --I had the two step vaccine this last year. Did you have that one or the earlier vaccine????
i was unfortunate to have shingles in my 50s the worst thing I have ever had I have been told by the dr that i cant get them again hope its true sympathize with you.
I'm so sorry to hear of your bout with shingles. It sounds quite awful. Hope that the pain is lessening. Just last week, my doctor offered me the 'new' two step vaccine. Your post made me do some research. This site has a good description of the available vaccines and at what age they should be given. mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...
I hope I never gave the impression to avoid the vacination. Just to be aware it’s not 100% protection as I thought. I imagine only having it in my eye and head is a lesser outbreak because I was vaccinated. I do recommend folk be vaccinated against this debilitating virus
