Blood pressure medication

I have been using cilazapril for a number of years to help control my blood pressure. I was recently put on bisoprolol to also control my blood pressure, and also reduce my heary rate. I still take cilazapril, which helps keep my B>P> down, but for some reason my doctor wants me to stop taking cilazapril. I don't know why. I take potassium tablets, and it may be that cilazapril increases my potassium levels, bujt blood tests show this level is normal. It has got me worried.

I’m presuming that it was the intention to replace cilazapril for bisoprolol normally drs don’t like to stop a medication immediately. Bisoprolol is commonly given to lower blood pressure and to anyone with heart problems. I take it since a heart attack 4 years ago. I was on ramipril for a while but bisoprolol is enough to keep my bp ok.

When I started taking bisoprolol I was given half a 2.5mg tablet. This is excellent for reducing my BP aand heart rate, but the effects only last about seven hours. Perhaps if I took another half a tablet I wouldn't need cliazapril.

I take 1.25mg once daily. Speak to your GP and let him know your BP readings if you have been taking them regular. Best wishes x
