Hi Dermatray, my husband Pete has sarcoidosis and COPD and takes 10mg of pred each day. He does take more if he has a chest infection and then tapers down gradually.
Wishing you well. Xxxxx
Hi,
in the past I have taken 50mg a day for short periods to get an exacerbation of bronchiectasis under control then reduced down over a period of a few weeks. Hope you feel better soon.
Yes have been for over 3 years currently 13 mg a day but have been up to 60 mg a day when suffering infections or exacerbation s. Steroids are wicked and I have suffered tooth loss and hearing loss and skin is paper thin and bruise easily but I am told I would not be breathing if I stopped taking steroids.
Hello Dermatray, yes I take Prednisalone 5mg a day. I also take Azathioprine for Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Carbosisteine for a lung condition. My steroid dose fluctuates, depending on my lung situation (Pulmonary Fibrosis). In the past I have been on 50mg. a day when really suffering badly, I also have Osteoporosis and take bone strengthening medication. Take care and "keep taking the tablets"!

I was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease (caused by the methotrexate I'd been taking for my rheumatoid arthritis). I started taking 30mg for four months from february 2018 (I moved countries at this point so I was probably taking 30 for a month too long), then 25, then 15, then 10m, and for the last two weeks I've been on 7.5 mg per day. I'm seeing the rheumatologist next week and hope to come down even further.
I take 15mg a day more if I have an infection xx
I have Bronchiectasis with asthma and, up until last summer, have taken prednisone for years (20-30 mgs per day). And that was just to help me make it thru the day. About a year ago, I talked to my specialist about treating my asthma, as my lungs always felt tight. After some trial and error, I take Dulera inhaler twice a day. As a result, I was able to wean off of prednisone.
Prednisone is a God sent, but with risks. Fortunately, I didn't experience the common side effects (weight gain, moon face, etc) when I was on the low side of dosage (20mg). At my worst, over 10 years ago, I was on 80mg per day for a month, and I did gain weight, sleeplessness, etc.
Prednisone is an anti-inflammatory steroid, I take turmeric with pepper twice a day for it's anti-inflammatory properties. There maybe other alternatives that you can try instead of prednisone.

I have previously been on 80mg of pred for Myositis and for pneumonia in 2016. No longer on Pred, as my Myositis is being treated with IVIG.
