I take 2 puffs a day of Salamol and it lasts me a month. What am I doing wrong !! I've looked on line to check i am using it correctly. I rang the chemist and they said perhaps its blocked but it doesn't seem to be. I will ask my oxygen nurse when see her in January in the meantime love to hear if anybody else has this problem. This site has been so helpful to me over the years whatever the problem someone has had it before Sending thanks to you all

It's not your imagination that's for sure .. I posted about this a while back mines seems to be running out so much quicker than before .. I take it as I need it as I'm stage 4 copd .... You should be able to get 200 puffs .. I went to the chemist and asked what was happening apparently I wasn't the only to enquire so who knows

do you was out the inhaler as the little hole in the main body gets blocked. I pull the canister out of the main body and hold it under a tap to flush it out from both the canister side and the mouthpiece side, then let it dry. I do this as soon as it seems to be delivering less, or weekly.

Hi Dorcas,

I had the same problem and did what Biker88 suggests, but still had problems. I am now on Ventolin!

Hi, mine usual lasts about the same time, I take about 2 puffs approx 4 times a day, my doctor says there is approx 200 puffs in one Inhaler. Maybe, next time you start a new Inhaler keep a note of how many puffs you take. Might just answer your question. Take care.

Thankyou for your reply. I am ashamed to say my problem was solved by just washing it as Biker88 said take care

Brilliant, I was working it out if you take 2 puffs 4 times a day that's 56 a week, x 4 weeks 224 so a month would be right, 200 in Inhaler. But problem solved anyway, must admit I have never had to wash mine out as yet. Keep well.

It's had the opposite effect on me. I now have to use the inhaler more often than I did with ventolin and salamol inhalers don't last as long. They are changing it due to the price of producing it rather than being any better. 3 different pharmacists have told me this as I search for ventolin. The best way is to ask your gp to add it to the prescription. There are plenty of patients now complaining about salamol about it not lasting or being as good
