Hi, I did have a very similar experience, so, l had to call an ambulance, as I was told to wait for an appointment with outpatients clinic, 10/12 weeks minimum!
I knew ambulance had to take me to the hospital, once in there, l was very lucky to have a really caring A&E chief, she used her authority to put me in one of her beds, psych evaluation, so she could keep me in, l had to spend bloody boring weekend in there, but since then I have had just about everything I needed done for me!
MATE! THEY ARE A GOVT DEPT, YOU HAVE TO USE THE SYSTEM! politicians legislate, use a lot of semantics, leave a lot of grey areas in decisions & laws they construct, so, they have to go to court as a trial/test case, that way when the public/media complain, they say .......well! It has been thru the courts!
My point is......how many x politicians are on these health boards that make these decisions? Notice it doesn't matter what party they were in before election to health boards! They are all mates!
Everything politicians do, is done so you HAVE to cheat, manipulate, wrangle, WORK the system. FIGHT MY FRIEND, while you were still healthy enough, I have & I have got right into the system! I now have 95/99% of what I need.
I haven't seen my Consultant since 2016. Asked GP last October 2018 for referral as having problems with my COPD. Now receiving letter and have to wait 26weeks like yourself. Disgraceful. I have been hospitalised twice this year and need follow up. .Hope you get sorted..
I have never seen a consultant, nor have many others in my Breatheasy group. Now we have recently been told that we will no longer be seeing a consultant due to the new changes that are being put into place (sic).
I just got an appointment from the hospital did not know I had been referred or that a second appointment had been ordered , it is six months since I last went. So it looks like 26 weeks is an average for Chronic illness patients. Unless its an emergency of course.
Last time I phoned the consultants secretary and she got me an earlier appoitment. It seems to be in all departments, rheumatology is an 18-20 wait as well, I was referred on 6th Feb and my appt is 23 July. I think this is pretty standard now x
Yes! You are all pretty much just repeating me, I think I am in a different country than the rest of you. But, it proves my point about politicians doesn't it! They really are untrustworthy scum, hey! BE A SQUEEKY WHEEL. it works.
Does everybody know why consultants are called 'MR' & not 'doctor ' ? Well, I believe that it's because, before modern medicine, the only person who can stomach amputations etc, were the butcher, so, they were called into to do the dirty deed! Lol
I had a diagnosis from my GP after a chest X Ray of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Phoned up to book the appointment on Choose & Book told it will be 12 months wait. That was Torbay Hospital. I have asked to be referred for a private appointment.
