Not sure what to do,,,,I was expecting to see lung consultant in December,so I made an appointment to see the gynaecologist in November ,but now I've had a letter to see lung consultant on the day of my gynaecologist appointment at different hospitals,,,I've waited ages for this appointment for the gynaecologist and don't want to change it ,,,,,has anyone ever changed or cancelled appointments before ,??

I have had to Nanny, more than once. I'd just ring the lung specialist's secretary and explain that you have a prior appointment. They're usually very good. Pam XXX

Thank you Mandy,

Hi Nanny,

I do it quite a lot because of clashes. Decide which you want to cancel. Then either phone the number on the letter ( which is usually a central hospital appointments number), or the number of your consultant's secretary if you have it. The consultant's secretaries can usually be more accomodating on dates. Before you phone have an idea when you would like to change it to. Don't accept anything silly like six months hence. Remember if you feel worried about doing it, that they are there to help you and you pay their wages. Usually they are very helpful. Good luck. Hope it works out and your appointments with both docs go well.

Thankyou ,I was concerned as I didn't want either to think I didn't want the appointment, so all the messages have been reassuring,x

Yes, it is not a problem you will just be issued with a new date.

Thankyou stree,

Good morning Georgina,

They must be used to these conflicts happening, and they certainly won't be awkward about it. All the best to you whatever you decide, and I hope both appointments are helpful for you.

xx

I would phone the secretary rather than appt number. Usually the secretary will try and "slot you in " or overbook. Where as the appt offIce will just give you next available appt which could be months away
