I have been sent an appointment to go for a CT scan tomorrow for my chest. I got the appointment in on Friday and phoned hospital today to make sure I had to go. They said yes. Now I'm not sure whether to go or not with advice given by government tonight about isolation. I've been given one also for Wednesday to see consultant at respiratory clinic. These appointments have came about after a chest x-ray about 4 weeks ago. My granddaughter is taking me in. Am I allowed to break isolation as laid down by government for this or should I cancel appointments.

Hospital tomorrow
All I can suggest is that you phone regarding your scan first thing in the morning. You could contact the respiratory clinic also. Both departments will be aware of the latest developments.
You can break isolation for medical reasons. My wife went hospital last week and the outpatient department was empty. We were seen very quickly. It was very strange as you moved around the hospital between departments hands were washed entering and leaving all departments.
I attended an hospital appointment , but my operation was cancelled. Many of those at risk have cancelled routine appointments and been given appointments later in the year. Its totally confusing on the news one consultant impled they are still doing elective surgery, thought that had been stopped already in the NHS. Its like food store like Greggs closing and adding to many peoples confusion. Thought food outlets were classed as essential services. If you have been told to attend then go would be my sentiment, but remember to follow all hygeine rules.
Yes that’s covered in the guidance
I have found all these comments about hospital appointments so helpful as I have been worried about the appointment I have for an echocardiogram. Very confusing here because the Welsh government have cancelled all but essential appointments so at least you know where you are, but the English hospital said to come. After last night’s announcement they have at last made a definitive statement but also give a telephone number to discuss the appointment so shall be able to contact them as I have so many conditions they could use me as a medical textbook!
The NHS don't give out CT scans lightly so, especially as you've been told to go in, so you need to weigh up the risks of not going (and not having something treatable diagnosed) versus staying at home to avoid the virus (which you don't have at the moment).
If you go, you could wear gloves, high neck jumper, that you can pull over your mouth, light jacket, glasses, etc etc and take everything off closes and shoes when back at your front door to put in the washing machine immediately and take a shower immediately.
There won't be many visitors at the hospital now so hopefully that will reduce the risk a little.
I can't advise you what to do - but if after calling the hospital again to confirm, and they say go, I would go (even if scared). I can't imagine how many people with a temperature are thinking they have a virus when they may have a bacteria and need antibiotics. The virus is taking over our thinking but we still have other diseases that need to be managed/diagnosed/treated.
All the best
My wife went to the hospital yesterday morning to discuss her ct for today,at lunchtime they phoned up & cancelled it until further notice.I would suggest ringing them today to confirm.
Hope all is well.
Thanks all for the advice. I did end up having scan now i have to go back up today to the respiratory clinic to see a consultant. Really appreciated all the replies but no very good at moving around site to thank people x
