All inhalers need a shake before use to distribute the medication evenly

I've never shaken the Spiriva Respimat inhaler. For some reason I assumed it didn't need to be shaken but I really don't know where I got that idea from 🤔

I was told vapour inhalers the liquid separates and forms air pockets and powder ones the powder clumps together but I’m no expert

Thanks 👍 Your reasoning sounds very logical. I've always shaken inhalers but don't know why I thought I didn't need to with the Spiriva. I think I'll start shaking it from now on, it might help it be more effective.

I only have vapour ones because the powder gets stuck to the mucus in my throat but I always shake mine

Yes you need to shake it before use. Have a good day 😊 Bernadette xx

At Pulmonary Rehab we were told to shake the meds for 30 seconds before each use. Seems a bit excessive but it's a good mini workout!

Definitely give it a shake first. Not sure how you then use it but a spacer works best 😊

Yes, was told by pharmacist to shake well, however, I cannot take it without a spacer, otherwise I cough like mad. Hope it helps x
