Finishing the surgery, my urologist thought the bladder tumors were entirely superficial and it shouldn’t affect my status for getting a lung transplant (the parameters are cancer free, smoke free for at least two years).
Turns out some were low grade, but some were high grade (actively growing). Very little invasion of bladder lining, and no invasion of muscle tissue, nor lymph nodes. A very good sign.
Treatment from here is immunotherapy whereby the BCG bacteria is infused into the bladder, and this will trigger a boost in the bladder’s white blood cells, which will go after the bacillus, but also any cancer cells.
Tx is once a week for 6 weeks, then wait for 2 months and biopsy bladder tissue again.
At least I will still make it to England to see Sir Paul play the Echo Arena in Liverpool, in December.
All my love,
Jimmy
