Hi, can I ask how active you are, and how long you have waited for the op?
At the moment I'm not too active as breathing has got so bad .I've been visiting the Brompton since October last year so all in all I've waited 7 months ❤️
thanks for replying, I have just started the journey and a bit worried because I am not active, because of the breathing being difficult and thought it may scupper my chances, but perhaps there is hope after all !
Hi, I had the op last August at rbh with good results. The surgeon there is very experienced, and I’m sure you will be happy with his care. Good luck!
Nice to meet someone who has had the op not so long ago .Obviously I'm overjoyed but again scared but I know the Brompton is a great Hospital and I will have the best possible care .Can I ask how your recovery went and how long til you were almost back to normal .? Love Babs ❤️
Hello Babs, I was in for 6 days, gradually getting better, but after I came home, I got a pleural efflusion, and my lung filled up with liquid. This was due to infection , and I could hardly breathe. Back in the ward, they drained one and a half litres, and I stayed in for further few days. So not plain sailing, but all well now!
I read everything there was to read about it but the surgeon answered all my questions honestly and he just backed up all that I read .He did say I must make use of the pain management team and I must also eat well afterwards .Yes a few others had chest infections etc after this op so I am well read .I hope you are feeling good now and thank you for replying so quickly. Take care of yourself .love Babs xx
I hope it goes well, you’re under the best team, and will be able to do a lot more afterwards Babs. Let me know how you go, good luck. Laura
All the best. Do let us know how things go.
have you have your op yet ?
Hi Maggie I'm so despondent as when I met the surgeon and asked when I would be in , the answer was 2 to 3 weeks , well I've been hassling them I hasten to add in the nicest way , and I got an email half an hour ago .The operation schedule is really busy and they are looking at August , although if a cancellation comes in it could be any time .It is affecting my sleep all this waiting and I'm having horrible dreams about the op which I suppose is natural , but I've always been impatient and want it done and dusted .Thank you for asking , I promise every one I will keep you all informed .
Love Babs ❣️
Hi Babs,
So sorry your being held up this way, but just think we are half way through June now so August is not so far off. Just keep you chin up and it will soon be here.
Will be thinking of you xx Maggie
meant to ask did they decide on the valves or lung reduction
Hi Maggie I'm having the lung reduction big op not the valves .I'm pleased about that as the success rate is better than the valves . Speak soon , take care
Love Babs ❣️
Oh Babs, Please don't get Despondent, I was trying to message you while I was in Hospital via my Mobile, it lost all my messages. You know I am back home now, Yes, I Had the valves all 4 and I'm happy with the Procedure. my friend Judy had Lung Reduction that you mention. We are all Different, The Surgeon & Lung Consultants Know what we require, so best they have our Health as their Priority. Do you Know that I was told my Procedure only took 33 minutes, Wow, felt amazed that they kept me from talking for that lengh of time.. I'm Recovering at Home and the Weather is still Lovely.. You too will have the Glorious Summer when you have your 's Done, Our Long term forecast is for Hotter weather in August, Phew too Hot much prefer September. I'm off to my Bed shortly, had all my family contacting me via Video streaming , loved it all, but oh so tired now.. Good Night Dear Babs. Fingers Crossed you Hear that there is a cancellation. Love n Hugs . xxxxxxx
Thank you so much Carolina especially as you have only just come out of hospital .I'm over the moon your procedure went well and you feel good ,long may it continue .Try to take it easy for a while ,don't push yourself too hard and do as you are told 😊.I'm getting so anxious waiting for mine when they told me it would be 2 to 3 wks but it's now 4 and a half weeks .Got an email yesterday to say that the op lists were very busy and my procedure will probably be in August although if a cancellation came in I could be in next week .I just want it done and dusted. I'm thinking all sorts of horrible things and it's keeping me awake .How is your friend that had the LVRS ? I hope she is well .Now I must let you get some rest .Please take it easy and again I'm so pleased you feel good .
Much love Babs ❣️
