Wheelie Day.

Time to drag the wheelie bin,

Out into the street.

Wind and rain and icy paths

Can make that quite a feat.

But today is bright and sunny.

The weathers on a roll.

Just the kind of weather

To take wheelie for a stroll.

It has to face the right way round.

And the lid must fully close.

If you don't conform to that,

They'll it leave I suppose.

When the bin is empty,

Just to make your day,

They leave it the middle of the drive,

Right in your flipping way!

I live in Basingstoke. We had lots of problems with our bin men. As my husband was awaiting major heart surgery and I've got limited mobility due to my 2 lung conditions we got fed up with the problems.

One very cold day I reached breaking point. Both our household bin and recycling bin had been left, by the bin men at the end of the block we live in.

So I phoned the council to moan.

The lovely man who took my complaint told me some great news. In my area, if you are disabled/elderly/infirm... (can't remember all the qualifications) you can get assisted bin collection. This means that I don't have to put my bin out or collect it any more, The bin men take it from my house and put it back!

I don't know if there is a similar service in all areas but it's worth finding out.

Good luck all xx

Same assisted service is available in Cheshire, where my elderly Mum lives. Very helpful

Very true Don, we play hunt the wheelies every Friday afternoon, as do all our neighbours. Think some of the bin men find it amusing to put them on the wrong side of the road after emptying.

Your bin men are the same as mine x x

Why do they do that? It amazes me that they can put the bins in such ridiculous places! xx Moy

Ask your council about Assisted Bin Collection as has been pointed out they will not tell you about it ,you have to ask if they say NO then ask your M.P. and your councillor why and be ready to quote the Disability Act to them.
