Has anyone tried a flutter device? Did it help? Suffering badly from chronic cough and reluctant to ask for steroids. Still have sore tendons in feet and legs and that is two years after ciprofloxacin. Steroids always increases the pain.

Hi , yes I have a flutter device and yes it certainly helps. Wouldn't be without mine. XXX😊 Bernadette
Thank you Damon and coughdrop. Yes I have bronchial asthma as well as bronchiectasis. Am not good with antibiotics or steroids. Lots of problems too. I only read about the flutter while researching chronic cough. Am going to buy one and give it a try. Hope it does not join the salt pipe in the cupboard!
Hi, As I understand it you have bronciectasis, is this correct. I am wondering why, if you have a productive cough and do not have asthma, why you would think of asking for steroids.
If you have a consultant, which you should have, you could ask to see a resp physio. Physio would not only to through lung clearnace techniques but sould show you PEPs like the flutter and the acapella. We are all different and seem to have our own preferences.
The only advantage of the acapella over the flutter is you can use it in any position, but if you only want to use it upright then you might find the flutter suits you best.
You can get both on prescription (unfortunately not all docs seem to know this). If you buy one make sure you fill in the medical VAT exemption form.
Sorry to hear the tendonitis is still troubling you. I can’t use Cipro for the same reason.
Hope you get sorted.
Love cx
Did you know you can get them on the NHS if you live in Britain, that's how I got mine.😊Xxx Bernadette
I've got a flutter device, I wouldn't be without it. It takes a while to get the hang of of it, but it helps a lot at getting the gunk off your chest. I purchased mine, was never offered one on the nhs, at the time I didn't know they provided them.
If you have trouble using it, go on u tube for techniques. Even if you don't get the gunk off immediately you will find that it's loosened it and you will be able to cough it up later.
I would definitely recommend x
I have the flutter device - just like Shirleyj I wouldn't be without it x
