I rang the DWP today to get a copy of my wife's assessment. To my surprise the young lady asked if we had not received the award letter? No I said it's only been three weeks. She then stated my wife would get standard rate care and enhanced rate mobility. Back dated to January. To say I am pleased for her is an understatement.
PIP Award: I rang the DWP today to get... - Lung Conditions C...
PIP Award
Nice to hear it sometimes works as it should.
Excellent news....but your wife is due it! Congrats to you both for going through the whole procedure which is far for from fast so back date's are also only right.
Good, it does work sometimes I'm so glad for you both, it's a worry off
Result! Great news for both of you.
What good news.
I just received a text yesterday from DWP saying they had received my assessment form. I filled it in using the online advise from the Citizens Advice. How did you get on with completing your wife's form?
great news, they are slow with their award letters - all mail, so glad for you. I am still waiting to here
Great News! Happy for you. I'm still waiting for a response to my request for a review after being turned down in January.
Great news x x
Excellent, great news!!
great news im waiting only 3 weeks to go lol
Great news! I'm just waiting to fill my forms in when they arrive. Not looking to the process. Glad your wife got what she needed and deserved.
Take your time, the wife and I did one or two questions a day. You will find you repeat yourself. Give examples like I can only climb the stairs once with difficulty due to shortness of breath. If you go onto the internet download DWP descriptors for PIP. It will give you a good idea what you can get points for. Be honest my wife can do a lot of things once but due to pain she is unable safely to do it again. My wife was lucky as she had had a home assessment by the local occupational therapy team, an assessment by a pain consultant and the pain management team so we had plenty so we had lots of evidence. Remember there is no such thing as too much information. I think I sent 7 pages of extra information to the questions, all the medical assessments and numerous photographs of adaptations which we had made to the house.
Keep a diary from when you get up noting all problems, you will find it helps. If you have a problem with wording then message me.
Thank you, that's very kind of you. Good idea to keep a diary of each day. I think I will write out in rough my answers to each question till I'm sure I've fully answered before filling the form in. You must be very relieved that that's over with.
It was so nice and reassuring to read your post. To hear that someone has been treated properly in every way, in relation to the PIP application, seems sadly very rare..so it truly was lovely to read your experience. Thankyou so much for sharing. A very positive posting. I would like to send best wishes to both your wife and yourself. .Helen
Thankyou. There are many problems with PIP both within Capita and the DWP. I think in some ways that it was a positive result was down to preparation. I provided a massive amount of evidence from various consultants and specialists. A&E reports, photographs etc. To be honest I included everything on the basis that I would win on appeal. Obviously the system worked in my wife's case.
lucky you badbessie. Im waiting to go to a tribunal to appeal. Been without benefits for a year....so far.
Hooray! xx Moy
Personally, I feel that getting PIP is OK but in fact is very sad. Money can make life a bit easier for the disabled person but how much better it would be if the person wasn't eligible because they were well. My OH recently had his DLA upgraded to the higher level and when we received the letter it made me very sad indeed because I thought of how ill he is now. They could have all the money back if he was only well.
