Life is like a merry go round Except what goes down comes back up as reflux and that`s made worse by a phone call to the doc.

R U talking about acide reflux ? Gerd ?

Needs must keep the reflux under control - to avoid anything more serious occurring.

so sorry if this is the situation you are now dealing with: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Acid aspiration is unpleasant and potentially extremely problematic for the lungs. Are you taking a PPI medication like omeprazole or lansoprazole? Have they given you any other treatment? What tests exactly did you have to diagnose this? Have you had a video fluoroscopy or barium meal to check you don’t also aspirate things you eat or drink? There are lifestyle things you can do to try and reduce acid and reflux in relation to GERD, but I’d imagine you’ve already tried these if GERD is the root cause.

Other than treatment with a PPI to reduce the acidity, the only other medication option if the issue is purely acid is a drug called baclofen, which works to prevent the oesophagus from relaxing as frequently and allowing acid back up as often. Assuming there’s no underlying cause like a hernia that can be treated, it then becomes about surgical options such as a fundoplication. My daughter had severe silent reflux as a baby, resulting in horrendous amounts of projectile vomiting and general discomfort, and we know she also has a tiny amount of aspiration with thin fluids on continuous swallowing (like chugging a drink of water down in one). Had we not been able to resolve the reflux with medication and food thickeners, the option being discussed was the fundoplication, but she still requires a very high dose of PPI to control her reflux even now as a teenager.

If you mean Acid Reflux, then I have suffered with this problem for years, my stomach produces excessive amounts of acid. I am now on 40 mg pantoprazole morning and evening and have permission from my doctor to take Gaviscon (or the like) in between. I used to take a tablet ranadine which worked better for me but for some reason it was stopped. I also have a wedge pillow under my other pillow to raise me up to help with the acid reflux and my breathing at night. If I were you I would speak to your doctor and see if they can help you until the consultant appointment. I can sympathise with you as I know just how painful it is. I do hope that you can get some help soon as in my case it has caused damage to my oesophagus. My very best wishes to you, am thinking of you. xx

Gavisvon Double Action before bed, forms a raft to stop acid coming up. I had terrible trouble and had to have an operation. My haitus hernia had gone through my diaphragm and then twisted. So had to fix that and also tightened my oseophegas. That was a miserable liquid only Christmas.
