Not allowed attendance allowance
Hi Frank, I'm sorry to hear you have been refused Attendance Allowance. Click on this link to read Biddy's post on the subject of benefits. healthunlocked.com/blf/post........
As you can see she won't be in the office right now, but if you call her on Monday I'm sure she'll be able to help you.
Best of luck, Annie
Put in an appeal, Frank, they nearly always win. I think they work on the principle that if you don't appeal you don't really need it.
It's only if you are a certain age (think if you were 65 before April 2013) that you would be entitled to claim Attendance Allowance. Under this age it is PIP. I agree with the advice to appeal but do get help filling the forms in. The CAB should be able to advise or a local disability centre.
You cannot apply for both if under 65 apply for PIP and if over its Attendance Allowance and down give in you have to fight for what you think your entitled for.
Hi Frank, the rules have become much stiffer and from what you say the general rules would exclude you. However I would think lower rate would apply in your case. You definately should ask for a reveiw then appeal if necessary but do seek help with the forms, in general CAB is best , Pension credit has no bearing on disability benefit entitlement, but they often try to say that's all you are entitled to as it is the cheapest option for the government to use public funds. Good luck.
I was turned down for attendance allowance at age 67. I asked AgeUK for help, they came to my home and helped me fill in the form. They know the way to word the answers. I was awarded high rate Attendance Allowance. Keep smiling

I am glad you got your Attendance Allowance Carole but this is quite different to PIP and the poster is too young to get this unfortunately. The only benefit they can claim is PIP.
Pip is very similar to Attendance allowance but you can get the mobility element with PIP. If you get the higher rate you can have a new leased car through motability scheme.
The thing to remember is that they are looking at how your conditions affect you in everyday living, not just what is wrong with your health.
E.g. you may need help with bathing or showering. This can be a stool or handles to hold onto etc. You do not need to be getting the help, just need it.
There are so many people who would benefit from the help but do not complete the form in the right way.
Please go to an agency as suggested previously if you struggle with this Form/Book!!!
Hi frank are you over 65? If not you can only get AA after 65. If yes you should apply again, if you need help and support with bodily functions for prolonged periods you should be eligible if you need help with the form reply to me on here so we can discus further
All the best
