74 years old copd/emphysema stage 3 . Also alpha1 and muscle problems. Recently applied and received lower rate Attendance Allowance . To be reviewed in 2 years time.

I am also a blue badge holder. Any ideas why this time limit and has anyone else had this criteria?

Hi have a look on the Govt.uk site as there is lots of info on there.

Most of these kind of benefits are reviewed. I applied for pip witch has a review in 3 years.

I have been on DLA for 20 years and although I am now 73 it stays as DLA not attendance allowance. I have been reviewed several times with no problems. 4 years ago I asked for a review and, much to my surprise, received an increase, also a letter confirming that the award was permanent. Try not to worry, despite what you hear reviews are quite usual and they are not out to 'get you'. I too have a blue badge and they have tightened the criteria for that too. Good luck.

Unfortunately the two year review is for everyone Dee

The letter I have says nothing about a review, it merely states my entitlement for a permanent award. Seems to change when the wind blows. I sent all my info and had a visit.

Maybe it's due to all the government changes .As to the lower rate can you wash and dress yourself without help . I have the highest rate because I could no longer function on my own .

If my husband weren't here I could not cope . I registered disabled and they have worked hard for me .Rails around , inflatable bath cushion and best of all a chair lift. I applied 8 years ago and don't have to apply again. We were both in our 70s when i applied . The blue badge 2/3 years is normal .

Thank you for your reply. I live alone and try to manage as best I can! Some days are more difficult than others. With attendance allowance I can now pay for a little help.

That is like me, I am 73 and don't have to be reviewed again.
