Here are two seals sunning themselves this time. This photo is taken at Scalpsie Bay, where there is a whole colony of them. They are tame and you can get up close, although I did use the zoom on this one. Scalpsie Bay is just an area of beach, fields, farms and seals. Nothing else there at all.
I think one the seals is a very young one. This photo was taken a few years ago, so have forgotten the exact date.

Glad you like it Sassy. Usually the seals at this area are quite tame because they are so use to people. However, if they felt threatened or alarmed in any way they would get vicious I think. Not far from where I live there was a seal who played with my dog in the water for ages. At first I thought it was a Labrador that had appeared, and quickly realised it was a seal. My dog loved water and was already in when the seal popped up to investigate. My dog swam over to it, the seal dived and reappeared a few feet away on the other side of her, so my dog swam over and the seal does the same thing again. This lasted for ages until the seal got bored, and my dog would not come out of the water until she was sure the seal had gone. They had a great time playing that day, and is something I will never forget. My dog was a big strong swimmer, but slept for hours after that.
Pleased you like it Sonia. They are cute looking and these ones were very tame, but that is just because they are so use to people. I think if you tried to stroke one, they would soon slither off the rocks. We also have basking sharks around parts of the island but I have never managed to get a photo of one. They don't come so close to shore as the seals, and sometimes only appear for seconds.
Wow, I saw a couple of basking sharks whilst on holiday in devon a few years ago , it wasn't jaws but it still had people running out the sea, I just sat on the beach laughing building my sand castle. X Sonia x
Ha ha Sonia. I can just imagine the scene! Years ago ( and I mean years lol) I went on an adventure holiday which included canoeing among other activities. It was at a place called the Summer Isles which are way North of Ullapool. My holiday took place shortly after the first Jaws movie appeared and I had seen it. We were getting canoe coaching and I was last in line as I struggled to get the timing right with my paddles in the open sea. I suddenly became aware of a whooshing behind me, and nearly died on the spot with fright. I screamed as loudly as I could, to draw attention to this shark on my tail. I can still remember the fear. The instructor shouts back to me that they were not man eating sharks. I shrieked back, " what about women, do they like them." What a laugh they all had, and once the shark disappeared I managed to laugh too, but was a bit mortified as well. LOL
they are beautiful it lifts the spirits,i am keeping well at the mo got my PR assessment on the 8th oct so looking forward to that. I hope you are well, really appreciate the photos x
Pleased that you are keeping well just now, and also that you are enjoying the photos. I don't want to overdo them, but people do seem to like seeing something different. I do as well, especially nature in any form as it does lift the spirit, and we all need that.
I am doing quite well too at the moment so will be online more.
Thanks eyes, I am pleased you like it. I don't think I have any more of seals, but do have a number of photos of peacocks at my door and in my garden, but for some reason they cannot be submitted. It keeps coming up, saying there is a problem. I will keep trying.
It is on a pink band and says, " there is a problem with your photo, remove image and try submitting again." I have maybe got a word or two in the wrong place but that is the gist of the message. I have wondered if it is something to do with photos that I have edited or cropped. I have a number of edited photos for fun, and have noticed that they are of a higher number than others, and they are never accepted. I think photos have to be of a certain size, but they are all taken with the same camera. I thought BLF had enough of me posting photos, and were giving me a hint.!! LOL
To be honest, I am ashamed to say I don't know. I know some of the photos are kb, but don't think they are all like that. I will go and try and post something else and have a look.
Have tried just now to post a variety of photos but the message keeps coming up, that there seems to be some issues with my photo, and to remove image and try submitting again. I am saving jpg, but don't know what that is or if that is a problem. Someone also put my photos on Picasa for me, so wonder if that is interfering with them. It shouldn't though as some are being posted successfully and others aren't.
Thanks eyes I will do later on, as I have suddenly become shattered and can't think straight for no obvious reason. It happens sometimes. I have taken a note of your email address. I hope you don't mind me saying, but we are advised not to put our personal details online for everyone to see. I am sure most if not all the people are genuine, but you never know who is lurking around. Remember all the spammers we had? I would delete that post if I were you. Will contact you later today or tomorrow. Thanks for you help and take care.
Lovely photo Huggs. There are lots of seals at Blakeney in Norfolk....along the North Norfolk Coast, which is a truly beautiful part of England. They do boat trips out to the little island where the seals bask in the sun, and they frolic around the boats...it's lovely. My grandchildren loved it when I took them. So glad I did take them when they first visited here as I wouldn't be able to do the journey now...I am about 25 miles from the coast. Hope you are well. I am feeling utterly exhausted and don't know why....I get soooo tired these days and I am doing practically nothing....it drives me crazy. Night night...
Glad you like the photo. The seals are great fun to watch, especially when there are loads of them around. Your grandchildren will always remember visiting the seals and good memories for you to look back on. I am feeling better than I have for a while, although like you just get completely exhausted for no reason. Yesterday I just lay on the couch and eventually had to stop replying to posts, and go to sleep. It is soooooooo annoying as you say. Hope you feel better soon. Stormy here today.
Thank you, and am pleased you like it. How are you doing these days.? I was off the forum for a couple of months, so am not up to date with things. Have been posting a lot of photos mainly as it requires less energy. lol Hope you are doing ok.
Thanks undine. The seals around here seem to have posing off to a tee aright, as they get plenty of practice. The baby is probably looking at someone getting a bit close. They are usually pretty tame around here, but the young one will still be a bit wary. As you say she needs a few lessons from mum. lol
