Just thought can glean a little information from you all, I have been on the same meds for about two years, I do see a pumonary nurse every three months at my health centre GPs. now for the past few months, but mostly the past three weeks I am extra extra breathless, the first week I was very depressed, like I have a carer in the mornings to help Me shower and get dressed ect, but that particular week I thought I have carers, and I felt that they didnt care bla de bla ect, this only lasted one week, but my breathing is a lot worse now, I did however wonder about this cold weather aswell doesnt help, however my question is does anyone think I ought to ask for a change from spivor to the new one elkira, I also have seritide 125 x twice a day and ventalin which at the moment I seem to have it continually in my hand, sorry this post is so long. mahunamoon AKA JOAN.

Same medications for about two years.
Sorry to hear that you feel so low. I have been on the same meds for ever. If you are extra extra breathless then go and see the doctor just to check out why. You could ask if you ought to change - if you dont ask you dont know. I find it important to be assertive with my GP. She is always willing to listen to me though. I use my bricanyl a lot these days. I take 5htp which I get online to help with SAD which I get every winter. I hope to get a lamp to help with it as well this year. Maybe you have a degree of SAD as the sunshine is getting less now. What ever try to keep your spirits up - the humour here on this site is great for lifting the spirits. Try the helpline for more information about the medication. All the best Mary x
Many of us notice the effect on our breathing as the weather worsens but you can't really know unless you check with your doctor.
Hello I think you need some medical advise. Could you ring the helpline press the red balloon for the number or make an appointment to see your doctor. You may have an infection but not realise. This colder weather has very much affected my husbands breathing. Please don't wait go to see your doctor . Take care TAD x
I have had a SAD lamp for about 3 years, they are brilliant. My only advice to anyone thinking of getting one is to buy one with the biggest LUX rating you can afford, it makes a massive difference.

thanks so very much to all of you, I have app with pulmonary nurse 29th oct, I will try to hang on until then, I do have emergency supply of antibiotics and prednisolone for flare-ups, so that saves me from having panic attacks,
I am not sob when sitting or even talking, its just when I do things, however I will ring the red balloon as advised, also thanks to Lynne, I will check out the SAD lamps do they do your washing aswell being they got LUX in them lol sorry couldnt resist that, however my mood has changed over the week end and being on this site had helped me a great deal so thanks once again to all of you. update to all you lovely people, spoke to a nice gent as nurse was on the phone, and he took my number and said nurse will call me tomorrow morning, cool.
Hello mahunamoon
Its great if you can get an appointment to get things checked. The change in the weather is affecting a lot of lung folk at this time but any worsening in symptoms should be checked as this can be a symptom of infection which you probably know should be treated asap.
Best wishes for discussions with nurse and doctor.

Hope you get in much earlier than 29th - sounds like you need to be reviewed.
Good luck
love cx
Thanks for your replies, I will know for sure what I will do after a chat with blf nurse, as I said I do have emergency meds at home, so if I go to docs he may say why did you come to see me when you already have meds ?????? I cannot get in any earlier to pulmonary nurse who helps me manage my copd

Morning everyone, had an appointment with blf nurse this am, have had to cancel her call to me cos this morning woke up feeling very bad head spinning shivers pains in chest ect, can only walk about six steps then out of breath, anyhow I have had to start my emergency meds, I have app for flu jab and b12 jab on the 11 oct, hope I can still have both jabs,......... but the lung function test nurse will not do spirometry, because of having antibotics in system for six weeks beforehand, but I will go see her anyway, and as methinks review is needed. thanks once again to everyone Joan x
Hi mahunamoon, don't worry what the doctor will say to you about your emergency meds...I think you should see someone today ...you shouldn't be suffering like this.
Best wishes ...
Yes I agree with knitter you need some help, my emphysema is much worse when the wind is blowing from the east like its' been for the last week, see different g.p. when I get an appointment with a doctor and one told me that ventolin is fine for asthma but not for emphysema and yet I'm prescribed ventolin, always think its' not what doctors say but what they don't say that bother's me.
Hi again, I will be on the mend soon, started meds this am, I shall still keep app with my pulmonary nurse she is in charge of me, when I see gp he sends me to her cos he doesnt know whats going on, and he always refers copd patients to her........... I wont be able to have spirimetry test on 29th of this month cos I need to be free from antibiotics for 6 weeks, however I should be well enough to keep my app by then, and I will ask her to help me regards a review mabe change meds, ect, I will go now, cheer myself up and look for some SAD lights or lamps, and do some research aswell thanks once again to each and everyone who has posted. oh and I didnt realise about the east wind thanks for that info rick1 cheers Joan x
Yes this has happened to me many times with changing of the weather. But please do see your Dr. or nurse because I landed into the hospital the last 2 times with upper respiratory infection. You may need antibiotics and prednisone.
((((HUGS))). Feel better soon my love...
