I have one of the other Ellipta inhalers so I can't comment on the Relvar as such but I do find the shape of the actual inhaler very easy to use - it requires minimal effort for maximum effect which suits my weak breathing to perfection. I hope you get on well with it x

Terrific inhaler. I suffered for years because of bad asthma which mo inhalers/tablets seemed to be able to cure. In the year before starting relvar ellipta, i had been taking double dose of spiromax (same as symbicort 400) for over a year and yet could only just about breathe, trying my best to avoid conversations because i would get breathless in the middle of every sentence. Inhaling 1600 micrograms of steroid daily (or even 2000 or 2400 - upto six puffs a day of the high strength spiromax inhaler on bad days) meant my voice was always badly muffled, and perhaps because of steroids or bad asthma or both, I was always fatigued, would always wake up with a headache, my mouth completely parched when I woke up and my bones ached all the time.

Then my new doctor - who almost screamed in horror when he heard the doses of steroid I had been taking - prescribed relvar ellipta 184 mcg, to be talen once a day. Life has been bliss ever since. I almost never use my blue inhaler anymore (before I took at least 8 and upto 16 puffs a day of that too), almost never wake up feeling breathless, my voice is clear and I don't get breathless while talking. No bone pains, no fatigue, no waking up feeling sort of hungover. I have been on it for about nine months and my asthma has all but disappeared.

One thing that significantly improved my asthma further still was lansoprazole which I started a few months after switching to relvar ellipta. It is used for treatment of acid reflux into the lungs which, i found out only after starting treatment with lansoprazole, had been causing mild chest pains and low grade wheezing intermittentky during the day, especially in the evening.

I was 'upgraded' to Relvar about 4 months ago and immediately my breathing improved. Were you prescribed Incruse at the same time. One is green and one is yellow. Lilian xxxx

I think there are 3 types of this medication. I was using Anora for a few years, after a while it didn't work too well, I was the put on Relvar and Incruse. I think the Relvar is the one with steroids, I have to take them both. I think, Yoga, that someone else on this forum will have much better information than I have. Hope it works as well for you as it does for me. Lilian xxxxxxx

I have been using Relvar for quite some time and it's very good.

The mouthpiece takes some getting used to but its effectiveness is what's important . Good Luck

I live in Switzerland and was on Relvar Ellipta for almost two years before I realized that it was causing my very irrational behavior. I constantly felt so stressed (for no reason) and would overreact to everything. Then one day I happened to be reading an article about cortisol (stress hormone) and how it affects sleep and emotions, etc., and the article mentioned that some corticosteroid inhalers can cause a dramatic increase in cortisol levels. A light bulb went off inside of my head and I realized that it was my inhaler (!) causing my strange behavior. As soon as my doctor took me off of it and switched me to a bronchodilator, I began to notice a huge difference in myself and my behavior. I felt normal again. I was so relieved, but also a bit angry because for so long, I had absolutely no idea that it was my inhaler causing so many problems! Even my doctor had no idea that it could have that effect. So please be aware that taking Relvar may alter your behavior. If you feel like you are constantly stressed and overreacting to every little thing, it may be due to the Relvar Ellipta.

As far as I understand it, Anoro has no steroids. I have been on Anoro for over a year. I was previously on a steroid (Seretide) inhaler although I don't have asthma. I have emphysema. I don't know if either has helped with my symptoms but my condition seems to be relatively stable at the moment. I don't seem to be experiencing any side effects from Anoro, unlike with Seretide, where side effects included oral thrush, scratchy voice, easy bruising and possibly weight loss. I haven't had an exacerbation since I have been on Anoro.

Mild to moderate I think. Still pretty fit considering.
