I smoked for 43 years, gave up 15 months ago because I couldn't walk a few yards without being so short of breath it scared me. Used a vapour/e-cig and I have never looked back. Im healthier can walk lots further than before, and 5 weeks ago was told I had COPD. I don't work because I have a degenerative spine, but I do exercise and other healthy living stuff, and I can honestly say I feel fitter than I did 10 years since. Try to give up, use the e-cig or patches if you need to. When you do stop your copd won't get any worse and you will feel better

xx

Welcome To the forum Tamms, you'll soon feel at home here. There are some very knowledgeable people on this board, who will try to answer any questions, and give you support when you decide to stop smoking.

You can do it, you just need to get into the right frame of mind. I and many others came on here saying exactly the same thing and I stopped 17 months ago, after struggling for over a year.

It's the most important thing we need to do for ourselves. xx

Hi Tamms, welcome to the site. Can you get support from your GP. I got patches from mine and they worked, it still takes A LOT of WILLPOWER but you CAN do it, you can do anything you set your mind on, the power is in you , you just have to REALLY REALLY want it! you want to be well don't you! Think of saving your baccy money for something lovely for YOU.

Pick a day you will STOP

Make sure you have aids to help, nicotine replacements, e-cig?

Lots of things to nibble.

Smoke yourself stupid the 'last' night.

Get support it's said to be easier if you have support of others who are stopping.

and GOOD LUCK! I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you :)
