Pet Scan lights up.

I had to have a complete pet scan because a scat scan showed nodules on my lungs. One is 11 mm and growing fast and the other one is 8 cm mass. I had my pet scan done on Monday and found out today that I have to have a lung biopsy.

My younger brother a couple of years ago had a pet scan. They got his mixed up and told him that he had lung cancer and didn't do a biopsy and took out 1/3 of his lung. Come to find out he never did have cancer. Now I am afraid after seeing what he went through and the pain and the scaring. I am afraid to go through this. With RA it will take me longer to heal. I couldn't even touch my arm after having melanoma removed. I don't want to play no more.

I don't blame you Danna but.........you really can get through this. It was so tough for your brother and he was found not to have cancer. If you have the biopsy you will know what the future holds, to a degree.

Stay strong, chat to us anytime and remember you are not alone, xxxxx

Make sure you tell the Doctor what happened to your brother. A biopsy should confirm whether or not you have lung cancer.

Bless you. Stay strong. Take someone with you at every step. Often you miss so much of what's being said, due to anxiety and being in awe of the medics. A friend with a list of questions you want answeing will ensure you don't miss anything.

Best wishes.

My husband takes me but he never wants to go in. I can't even get him to talk to at home about it.

Hello Tryfan now that all the shock is gone, I do have support and someone with me all the time. Jesus is carrying me. I have this site for support and I have family members where we all went through some kind of cancer at the same time. One Aunt went through breast cancer one with kidney cancer and me with melanoma and basal cell cancer. We just find out that we may have cancer and it is scary. Have a wonderful day and today everything is in Jesus' hands . He has it and is in control of it.

Danna couldn't agree more. I am always a little circumspect on bringing relidion into replies. So glad you have support both spiritual and temporal.

It has to be dark before you can see the stars, then it will be the dawn of a new day.

God bless you and keep you.

Ok some people are unable to cope. So my next piece of advice -ring your hospital, explain your circumstances and deep concerns. Ask if they have any charity workers who would befriend you. Try also Macmillan see if they can help. This of course presupposes you have no relatives or friends/neighbours who you can trust.

Hope it helps. Good luck.

Tryfan, it is not being able to take advice. I had so many test done this last month and it is really over whelming. I found out what INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY is and it has to do with vascular intervention. I guess that pet scan showed more then what we were expecting.

Thank you, I have my biopsy on the 13th of Feb. I have a Solitary nodule which is different from round nodules and that is why they have to do the biopsy.
