I do not get much relief from using the blue ventolin inhaler. Is there any alternative? I also have aclidinium bromide which is good but not for frequent use - only twice daily.
Have also not got clear of chest infection - on doxycycline and steroids again for 4th time.
Any comments?

Are you using it correctly. Mist inhalers are best used with a spacer, such as the Aero Chamber.
It can be difficult to coordinate your inhalation with the release of the medication, done incorrectly and the medication hits the back of throat rendering it useless.
You really need to talk to you doctor about all of this....he needs to know so that perhaps they will teach you how to use the inhaler, or change it. Good luck PS I couldn't live without my salbutamol.
I have tried Bricanyl as a substitute for Ventolin. If you are needing more and more Ventolin and getting little relief you really should contact a health professional...maybe your preventer inhaler needs changing. Everyone is different and different medications work better for some people than others
Have you had a sputum test or a blood test to see if the antibiotic you are using is the correct one.
I often get chest infections and right now on am antibiotic plus cortisone plus ventolin plus seretide plus spiriva so you're not alone . I have been on ventolin since it was first introduced into Australia and that was many years ago. I guess I'm immune to its effectiveness now but psychologically I still carry it with me . I just have to accept the fact that I always going to be susceptible to infection . I am male 81 now .
