hi all can anybody help me i want to know what stage my copd is my readings are RVC=5.15 FEV 1=3.55 FEV1 PRED=78 FVC 5.74 & FVC PRED 105
just been diagnosed with copd - Lung Conditions C...
just been diagnosed with copd
After a definitive COPD diagnosis, Fev1 >80% predicted is deemed mild, so 78% predicted is borderline mild/moderate.
My FEV is currently 78% which puts me into stage 2 moderate.
Good diet and exercise and you will probably die of old age.
well the nurse said 8 years n doctor said 10 am really worried wats comeing
Are you serious that your nurse said 8 years and doctor 10 years? That is incredible that they would say that. There is no way to really predict the future but as others have said exercise and eat healthy, and quit smoking if you smoke.
yeah the nurse went off a graph am 42 now & on the graph i only went to 50 so i dont know...when i phoned the doctor hes got me down as living to 52
Same stage I'm at, and good diet, increasing exercise and avoiding getting infections has kept my just into moderate stage the same for 2 and a half years.
What's a FEV? I've been told my COPD is mild, but no one has ever given me any figures to work with.
I've certainly had the tests but no figures have been shared with me.
I should add that initially, I wasn't even told there were stages of COPD or where I was on the scale. It was only after getting info via the internet that I knew there were different stages and at that point I asked my GP who shrugged his shoulders and said, 'Oh - well -mild, of course' though how he thought I should know when no one had told me I cannot imagine. It was a year before COPD was mentioned again and by then I had joined a new Breatheasy group that I heard about so knew more questions to ask. As a result, I got a lot more info from the nurse, but still no figures. Didn't know I could work things out from them myself - thought they were all medical gobledegook!
i got a book to read with what todo & breathing exercises things like that & my reading were in that book
