I'm new to these figures, so can't give you much guidance - but I think "pred" means predicted, so your Fev1 is only 40% of what it should be, but your Fvc is better than expected at 103%. Someone should come along soon who could help you with the rest. All the best, M.

The best people to ask are those that do the testing.For comparison,I am 59 years old stopped smoking 3 years ago,my Fev is19% and I have very severe emphysema.I was told I had Copd about ten years ago but not told how important exercise is so sat about not doing much which I believe has made my condition worse.D.

I daren't even know what mine are very very low, BUT I go by how I feel on a daily basis. I have severe emphsema,put all my effort into eating somthing every day ,getting dressed instead of pjs all day , taking control of my life, it has taken 2 yrs to get to this point ,or it would have made me a lot worse than I am,so it's how u cope .x

Looks like you are severe. Also looks like you have hyperinflation. What is your oxygen? Most importantly how do you feel? Are you exercising? Do you have inhalers? Don't know much about you, except your test results. 😊

Thanks for the replies every one . I'm 55 told I had copd at Christmas had been hiding head in the sand for a while.

I stopped smoking will be 2 years in September. My weight had dropped to 5 stone.

Now I'm 9 stone and have just finished pulmonary rehabilitation . Which has given me a life back. My shuttle test was 30mtrs and at the end 70mtrs.

My meds are spiriva once a day fostair two twice a day carbocisteine one twice a day salbutamol two puffs as required.

Citalopram 20mg one a day and nifedipine 10mg one three times a day.

I've had 4 lots of prednisolone and three lots of anti biotics since December.

Since pulmonary rehabilitation and meds have had small improvement from 38% to 40%.

Still very new to all this and confused.
