I don't know nothing about EOE. but I've had copd for 7 years. I'm classed as severe copd but I've a good quality of life. I admit I miss joining in playing football with my grandsons and stuff like that. But I do manage to walk my La dog. I have oxygen therapy if am exerting myself .but otherwise I try to keep well. I try to keep my weight stable which is torture as I love my food. I don't smoke. And up to press I still go to work so my advice is keep healthy. Gentle exercise and enjoy life.
Morning to you, COPD is an umbrella term for emphysema and bronchitis mainly and id a disease that my husband Pete has had for 7 years now. With good meds, diet and exercise people can and do lead a good life. This site is a wonderful source of information and advice and it's nice to welcome you Darren. Not heard of EOE but l do wish you well. Xxxx
Good morning Darren, and welcome. I was diagnosed with COPD 8 years ago, and can only reinforce what Amanda said. I work full-time and eat a healthy diet, go to the gym, walk the dogs, cycle (fair weather only, lol) ......in other words, stay as active as you can. There's also some great breathing exercises on Utube you could have a look at.
Welcome Darren. COPD sounds very scary when first diagnosed. Possibly the words fill you with fear. However, I was diagnosed over four years ago. To start with my respitary reading was bordering on severe. However, since then with the help of good medication it now registers moderate. Apart from a little breathless and coughing fits from time to time I keep well and lead normal life. Good luck.
Welcome to the site you'll find lots of kind folk here who are happy to answer questions and offer the benefit of their experience which can be really helpful, especially when newly diagnosed. x
Thanks all for your kind replys,I'm off to surgery today just seem to be out of breath all the time and having coughing fits,I'm on steriods and antibiotics at the moment but they don't seem to be helping at the moment,Been on them now for 2weeks.
Hi Darren, I am guessing your COPD is smoking related, if it is and you have not quit do so now, today, the instant you read this. I cannot emphasize how important this is. If you are in dusty environments wear a mask, when you go shopping wear a mask over your nose and mouth. Protect your lungs at all times. Next time Lidls are selling a nebulizer buy one, they are great value and are a God send. Make sure your doctor has supplied you with Doxycycline and Prednisilone for the next time you get a cold. Will save you another hospital trip. Best wishes and good luck to you and yours.
Thanks for all the replys,Just been given a course of antibiotics and steriods plus a ventolin pump,Feel 90% better already,Been told to go back to copd clinic on Monday morning at 9.15am for more help and advice so 🤕Looking forward to that.As i haven't smoked for the past 30 years maybe that's helped a lot so I'm very positive now,Cheers and thanks for all the help.
