So I got my results yesterday following my thyroid op. I had half of it removed and it turns out it was cancer and it affected at least one lymph node. Now I've to wait to see what they are gonna do. Operate again (yuck!), radioactive iodine or do nothing.
I'm fed up. Seems to be one thing after another but at least my lungs have remained stabile since last November. My fev1 is up 1% to 56% and I gained 200mls in my FVC.
I just need a break at this stage and to get to enjoy my little baby without stressing about my health. But I'm determined this won't stop me either
Hidden that's a good positive attitude to have and a gorgeous baby to love good luck x
Good for you. Staying positive is important and don't forget treatments have progressed tremendously over the years and it's wonderful what they can do now. A big hug for you. x
I agree with what others have said about staying positive and treatments.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear this. Good news about the lungs though, long may that continue.
I can only tell you that a really good friend of mine, now about 45, had her cancerous thyroid removed some years ago. Since she's had two boys, has loads of energy most of the time. She takes thyroxin always except when pregnant. She has regular checks The boys now 10 & 6 are very energetic boisterous so she lives a full & active life.
I hope this helps in a small way. Thinking of you with love.
Hi nfanning, Sorry to hear of the cancer diagnosis. You have a wonderful attitude, which will get you through most anything. Just hang on to that, your beautiful baby, and positive thoughts. Thinking of you...😊 Rubyxx
I am so sorry to hear this hun but I so admire your attitude. My daughter had her thyroid removed last year due to Graves and she was told she would not be able to cuddle her little girl or carry on teaching for a while if she had the radioactive iodine, so opted for surgery. Perhaps something to check out as you have a little baby.
Great news about your lungs. I hope whatever decision you and your medics come to works very well and tht your health improves soon.
Good Morning nfanning. What a blow, what a great attitude you have. Sending tons of positve thoughts & rooting for you. Don't forget it's ok to rant, mosn & vent on here if you need to. Nan
Sorry to hear this news, nfanning, and I agree you need a break. You are a courageous lady and I am sure you will deal with this with your strong and positive attitude. You will have lots of pleasure enjoying your beautiful baby.
Hi NF, my sister-in-law had the same thing with her thyroid. The only treatment she had after the initial op was the iodine. She had to go into an isolation room for about three/four days, then stay a bit apart from the family for a few days. She's fine now.
Sorty to hear your bad news, i hope they got all of it and you are now clear of that awful disease. Wishing you all the luck in the world with your results.
