Hi Velvet thank you we no longer have them Harvey had cancer and Holly couldn't cope without him but they both had a fantastic life went for walks every day we took them to the beach most weekend in the summer and in the winter they loved the snow xx

Hi onamission

Sorry to hear that, l lost my dog Murphy a couple of months ago, and l miss him so much. We have had four black Labs over the years, like yours they have left us with lovely memories.

will you have any more

velvet55 profile image
velvet55 in reply tommzetor

Hi mm

We said not, but l drove by the RSPCA rehoming centre last week, and l was very tempted to go and have a look.

All our dogs have been rescue dogs, and are traumatised when they have been In kennels for a long time....that's the problem now we are retired and can go on holiday when ever. We always go for 3 weeks in the summer, and we have no one to look after it, and l hate putting dogs in kennels.

Xx 🎅🎅

mmzetor profile image
mmzetor in reply tovelvet55

yes that's the thing with dogs they are a tie in that sense , we have had two rescue labs when we got jet the puppy he was from a breeder as the local kennels didn't have any labs and that was only breed we wanted

onamission profile image
onamission in reply tovelvet55

Hi Velvet my 2 never went in Kennels we always took them with us on holiday. Mr O and I went to the local rescue and took them a bag of dog food they are asking for fosterers so we might do that for a while

velvet55 profile image
velvet55 in reply toonamission

What a great idea, the only problem with that is you will fall in love with it and won't want to give it back. Well l know l would want to keep it 😁

Xx🎅

onamission in reply tovelvet55

I know but it is sort term fostering for dogs who don't cope in kennels or puppies. I used to board guide dogs in the last 18 weeks of training it was very difficult to give them up

mmzetor profile image
mmzetor in reply toonamission

lovely idea but don't think I could give them up

Hi onamission

I hear you like malt my dad loves it there he had couple of year he went for three months over winter rekon it was cheaper living there with full bord than running the house through the winter , only problem was last time the bungalow pipes burst while he was away totally ruined every thing took 6 months before he could move back , he isn't really well enough now to go winter time the cold hits him when he gets back he did go to turkey in the summer

velvet55 profile image
velvet55 in reply tommzetor

Hi mm

Yes Malta is lovely , a fantastic climate, very friendly people, and they drive on the left, or if you are a local, on the shady side !!

Your Dad is right, in the winter months you can get fantastic deals in the hotels, when you work out our winter fuel bills, the money you would have spent on food, it is cheaper.Free evening entertainment where ever you go.

The locals think it's cold, but they have never had snow, ice or even a frost, we have been in February and swum in the sea every day.

The beer is cheaper than ours, and good wine at 99p a litre...eating out is cheaper and cheapest car hire in Europe.... What more could one want.

Talking about it makes me want to go, but l couldn't spend that amount of time away from my family....Soft or what !!

Velvet xx 🎅😁

mmzetor profile image
mmzetor in reply tovelvet55

I don't see why you go all the way to malta for free evening entertainment thought you pair got that at home

If you are willing to travel to Norfolk I know an amazing lady who runs a holiday for pets service. She has them in her home and they get lovely long works on private land.

You need to book ahead. George likes her. I haven't sent him there yet, but it is the only place I would consider. She is not expensive either. The place is fully insured and inspected.

She has a couple of chocolate labs. I know dogs who have stayed there and they come back happy and in good condition. She limits the number of dogs she has at any one time.
