I have amoxiicillin for my uti. ( yes I still have it! ) It says on the bottle to take it 3 times a day. How would you divide the doses up? Every 6 hrs or 8. Might seem a stupid question. But something I always wonder when taking pills.
Enjoy your extra hour! I don't get it for 2 wks...

Interesting how everyone sees 3 times daily. Big time difference 4-8 hrs apart! I had Googled it first, and came up with all kinds of answers. Figured I would see what you guys do. Maybe has something to do with how long the pill stays in your system?
If it says after food just eat a biscuit first. I asked my GP about that as you dont always want food when you are ill. Eat a round of toast or a couple of biscuits its just to put something in your stomach.

What a lovely pic.I always have taken the 3 times a day meds,as breakfast lunch & tea! But check with chemist,is probably best.
Didn't take the whole dosage last time. Pleasant it isn't . Very uncomfortable, to say the least.
Have a good day and stay well.

Morning ruby, π I've never been strict on times with meds ruby , as long as four hours has passed between them it doesn't really matter, if it has to be with food or just after food I normally do my 3 meal times as I don't normally eat late at night. Xx Sonia xx
When Ive asked I've been told a day is 24 hours therefore take approximately every 8 hours for the best result otherwise a there's a time gap without antibiotic cover when the bugs can increase. The one before bed I'll have with a snack IE peanut butter on toast or oatcakes which are slow to digest.
I cannot believe you still have the uti! TAKE THE WHOLE COURSE Mrs.
Thats why I want to make sure I take this one right. What you say makes sense. I'm going to do every 8 hrs. I have had this almost a month. Time to move on! Just hope the amoxiicillin works. Need to get my flu jab.
Plus want to get the new pneumonia shot. How are you
Great photo. I'd take one after your breakfast, then after lunchtime and finally after evening meal - only coz I find they work better after having eaten.
My nurse says exactly the same as Stone. Exact timing is not so important as dividing the dose so as it keeps going into your blood stream on a roughly even pace. Regards Rib
Hi Ruby I was told by a consultant many moons ago that they should be taken every 8 hours or it was a waste of time taking them. For me that means 7am, 3pm and 11pm. Hope they do the trick for you. Sheila x
Talking of tablets, I remember the first time I used my emergency pack of amox and steroids. Steroid pack said take 6 a day, took a while to work out spacing at 2 hourly. Finished course, saw pulmon nurse, found out should have taken all 6 together.
