Rabbits are distantly related but not closely enough to mate, In theory a rabbit and squirrel could produce offspring.

I know the cats outside go after squirrels. Thats why I found this surprising. A duckling is a totally different thing. Their mother doesn't nurse them. Interesting stuff.

[Hidden]

We watched a TV programme about animals adopting the young of a different type of animal. It showed a cat who had adopted 3 ducklings. It was lovely.

They nestled in as though they were suckling Rib. Imagine that, suckling a duckling. LOL

Azure, cats and rabbits aren't related, unless you count the Chinese Zodiac, where they are interchangeable. xx

I just watched that video. Don't know how to put it on here. It seems cats will nurse any young, when their feeling maternal. Also showed a cat nursing skunks. Animals are truly amazing.
