Hi lovely lung people, quick question about Hib vaccines (for use in adults who have problems with Haemophilis Influenzae and Strep Pneumoniae.)
I’m in my 40s but received the (child’s) Hib vaccine in 2018 (along with pneumonia vaccine) and would like to know what the protocol is regarding re vaccination.
Is it just one jab and your done? Or should I be asking for another Hib vaccination? It’s just that I thought it really helped me and now I’m getting more frequent infections once again 🙏🏼😊

I was given the hib jab and revaccinated with the pneumovax in November as my levels were low following blood tests. They did another test a fortnight afterwards and found I’d made antibodies No-one said anything about re-vaccination at any point in the future though. It was my first ever hib jab but I’d previously had the pneumonia one about 25 years ago- I know with most people they’re meant to last for life! Ask if they can check your antibody levels. Good luck 🤞😊
Thank you for that Firefly 😊 I’ve never had any good, solid info on this, my specialist discharged me back to my GP and so good info is hard to come by. I was however, told I can have the pneumonia vaccine every 5 years, so that’s good new. Re the antibody test, you are the 2nd person to mention this to me, thank you (wonder why the GP or specialist haven’t suggested this to me!l?) expensive I imagine! 😊🙏🏼
