I used John Lewis Insurance for my last visit. Please be aware that, depending on your age and your condition, you may have to pay a lot of money to get medical cover.
I used the various insurance search companies like confused .com found good to go insurance with COPD mentioned it found them to have a decent quote used them on last four trips to thailand but could be more expensive for USA found age uk and bank and other similar organisations much more expensive pays to shop around a lot before making decision
Yes.. I did the same, search , when we went to Greece last year,
Good to Go are pretty much the best, of the bunch..
I've also found that our AEU card means very little. Especially in Greece,
I had an Ear infection, nothing to do with any of my illness , and they only have private clinics, so had to pay ..
Also another one to try, if you are old like me,. Lol
Is Age Concern...
Hope you get something sorted soon.
Have a great time in the States..
And you defiantly need best insurance you can get to visit the states..
A. We used to,live their.. And no how charge for everything including an aspirin
B my son in law came and his family came to visit us,in Florida,
And he got bitten by a spider, spent most of time in hospital,
And they wanted $5000 up front, even tho he was well covered in
With his insurgence.. Just saying...
I use HSBC. A couple of years ago I had viral pneumonia when in Lanzarote - 6 days in intensive care and another week in a ward. They were truly excellent - reassuring, helpful and they organised everything for me down to extra hotel accommodation for my wife, rearranged flights home and a taxi to the door. They are perhaps not the cheapest but they are worth every penny for the peace of mind.
Hi Benji - we use a company called Avanti which we find the best for us .My husband is 73 & three years ago he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Haemosiderosis which is an extremely rare lung condition. We thought that we would never be able to visit our son & his family again as they live in Connecticut . However Avanti were very helpful & reasonable- we appreciate that people with lung conditions will have to pay more but, as Tetrazzini says , it's peace of mind . Enjoy your trip , Helen .
There are a lot of Insurance companies out there that will Cover Pr existing Conditions put it in Google and see the differences.
I was refused many times but had quotes starting at over £900 to £1900 for a 2 week holiday in Spain. I have multi conditions! I am staying in the UK now
It is very hard to get travel insurance with Copd, especially if you are on oxygen, the min you mention oxygen, they either say don't cover,or load it so much your holiday isn't worth taking,& are you aware that if you need oxygen while flying this is another expense you have to consider, good luck with your search,if you get reasonable cover, maybe you could come back & share on this site for other people to find.
